Ninka Donating Members 1,850 Member For: 22y 1m 23d Gender: Male Location: Perth, WA Posted 31/05/03 10:11 AM Author Share Posted 31/05/03 10:11 AM We did the final Dyno testing today, and anded up with 200 KW exactly @ 8.3 PSI.The problem with optimising further, is that after the first run, the ECU detects higher oil temp. and start winding things back.Second run the boost is significantly lower, and if we keep trying, it just gets slower and slower.It appears that oil cooler is a must if top level performance is to be maintained over longer periods, to keep the oil temp. under control.If you read some of the shootout test done with the XR6T, you will have noticed that they also only got 1 or 2 good runs, and from there the XR6T just got slower and slower.Last night (cool night at 10 degrees C.), I went out on the outskirts of Perth to test my brakes (they have a pretty bad shudder), and did 4 runs from 0 kmh to fairly high (not promoting speeding here), then hit the brakes hard, floored it again and so on.By the last run, I could hardly feel the CAPA modification, as I imagine the boost had been reduced to near standard levels by the ECM.Cooling is definitely an issue on this car, and one that must be addressed if you plan to increase the power.I plan to fit water spray and oil cooler at the end of winter. There's also a story that the engine has a oil temp safety cut off but it's supposed to just shut the engine down rather than reduce power. I guess if you wanted to go to that trouble you could.There are however a couple of wires spliced into the wiring harness, but I guss if you wanted, you could assemble them all in a plug, then all you would have to do is unplug the "boost box" and re-establish the hose conections to the wastegate.
