Guest PHNTUM Guests Posted 26/03/03 04:51 AM Share Posted 26/03/03 04:51 AM When I picked my car up I found it to be 52lt/100km.................does this mean my car was flogged. It only had 17Kw on the clock..............has anyone else had the same thing...........I was told this is standard from the factory.I now have 220km on the clock and fuel economy is down to 24.5Lt/100km. Yours was the one we suspect was taken to the Melbourne GP right? Maybe Mr Schumacher gave it a bit of a whirl around Albert Park Mine had about 48ks on the clock when I picked it up (with a full tank!), and economy was showing 18.5L/100km. Have just passed 1000ks, and economy has fallen steadily to 15.5L/100km. Apart from brief periods of peak hour crawling, the economy has been reducing constantly - even with the odd full squirt :o .I wouldn't worry just yet. One of two things - it was either flogged quite severly or it's been left idling for a while around the factory or dealer (I'd suspect this). Only 17 kays over a long period of time could certainly do it.A NA XR6 I test drove had 130kms on it and was also showing above 20l/100km.
XR6TK1W1 Member 435 Member For: 21y 8m 26d Location: Wellington NZ Posted 27/03/03 05:39 AM Share Posted 27/03/03 05:39 AM Well to add my 2 cents worth, well when talking about fuel in NZ 2 dollars worth. I do alot of around town and hilly and motorway driving in the same tank of gas and mine averages 13.4 to the 100km ( via the trip comp ) Plus I have a lead foot and my missus ( Yes I let her drive my car ) loves the loud peddle to. I have run it on ULP and it hates it. We only have the ultimate over here and the thing loves it. I havent done the full figures but the differance in economy between 96 and 98 is worth a look at. it appeared to get around 40 kms extra from a tank of 98 to 96, dont hold me to this but its been the same 3 times ive done it. So it almost cancels out the cost difference. Happy hooning everyone B)

Race off from the lights even if I'm the only one there, just to hear the exhaust note. But try as I might after 6,000ks I can't get my Brakes to shudder. Coolant tank is still green. ..and the worst fuel economy I can manage is 18L/100k's, and that was towing a car trailer. Can anybody offer any suggestions ...... no I will not lend you my car for a week.
Guest BAnter Guests Posted 29/03/03 09:11 AM Share Posted 29/03/03 09:11 AM MondieYour Verada sounds atypical - or else you have a very heavy right foot and a supply of spare licences! My brother's company runs Magnas, all now are 3.5 autos. My brother and his colleagues do a mix of city, suburban and long distance country driving. In the country, their vehicles average about 8.5-8.9l/100kms, city about 11-12. My other brother has an 6 month old XI Verada and returns similar figures.
Guest BAnter Guests Posted 29/03/03 09:17 AM Share Posted 29/03/03 09:17 AM chrislakIn the spirit of "mines bigger than yours", if I didn't turn off my car in the petrol station, I'd never actually manage to fill the tank!! Its a pre-HE Jaguar XJS (the HE engine is the later, more fuel efficient version). It usually returns about 11-12 mpg - its too frightening to calculate that in litres!
