Only Optimax has entered the tank from the day I picked it up. It's all my fuel card lets me get....I'd like to save up $160 so I can get myself 3 tanks of BP ultimate, see how I run on that...Ken, I should of expected that from you....Krispy Kremes are not on my diet... :D

GDH Member 84 Member For: 22y 1m 5d Posted 11/07/03 02:33 AM Share Posted 11/07/03 02:33 AM It's almost iimpossible to compare economy figures, because everyone's driving environment's different. Best to compare what you're getting now vs what you got in your previous car.Mine's almost 100% freeway/highway at a good clip (sometimes faster than others - had some fun with a citric acid XR8 yesterday morning but that's another story) If I was stuck in Sydney traffic, I doubt I'd get decent fuel figures either...that said, 19/100km is scary!GDH

GDH Member 84 Member For: 22y 1m 5d Posted 11/07/03 05:30 AM Share Posted 11/07/03 05:30 AM Sorry Ken, I had some work to do (damn). My commute is approx 80km each way, each day, so I spend a LOT of time in the car, but a fair bit of the trip is on freeway, so the travel time isn't bad...esp in the T. Anyway, I'm minding my own business (at a smidge over the posted limit) when I see in the distance a citric acid XR. Obviously at or probably even below the speed limit, because I'm closing...bound to be a NA, I think.A bit closer, and the red 8 says it isn't...what a waste, I think.Pull alongside, and I give him a thumbs-up to acknowledge his machine...I do that with any XR I come across, but most drivers don't give you the time of day - weird. But this time, this guy waves back. And that was all that was needed - it's on...he hits the gas, I hit the gas, and the two Henrys are virtually side-by-side throughout until we catch up on a gaggle of cars. Slow down, negotiate the mobile chicanes, then accelerate again. Gave it away when we caught the next lot of cars. Waved and smiled, and resumed normal commute speed for the rest of the trip. How do I know he was trying? An opened-up Boss engine next to your ear makes such a beautiful noise (alas, better than the T) and a big number on the speedo says he was serious. I know I was trying...and I confirm there is very little between the two cars in straight line performance. Not sensible, but a helluva lot of fun.I love my car.GDH

Not sensible, but a helluva lot of fun.I love my car.GDHI had a little experience like this myself last week, albeit stopped at lights. What should pull up beside me but an XR8 ute - mine is a Citric Acid T ute, with centre muffler removed and a unifilter ram pod in place of the airbox. He looked at me, I looked at him, the light went green and what do you suppose happened???After I realised that he was in fact serious, my bonnet was at his back wheels. From 1st to 2nd, I pulled up to be about just in front. 2nd through to 3rd, I edged forward some more - his bonnet would have been in line with my rear wheels, and through 3rd I pulled out about another full car length. This is absolutely NO BULL. And yes, he was trying - he told me so at the next set of lights, right before he went down to the Ford dealer to trade "up" to a turbo...... :DOh, in relation to the thread, I don't care how much fuel my ute uses. If I did, I would have bought a Focus instead. Cheap fun really.
Guest ClarkysTurb's Guests Posted 27/07/03 01:59 AM Share Posted 27/07/03 01:59 AM Have just got back from Queensland from watching the V8's GO THE FORDS 1 2 and was very suprised on fuel eco have a TURBO UTE its only had Shell Optimax ever in it.The best I got out of a tank was 696km with 50km displaying on DTE we couldn't find shell petrol station so kept going until we did. Also said on trip 10.4L per 100km the car has done 11946km. Around town though I get 13 to 14L per 100 can't help putting my foot down a bit..
