hey all,

got the capa flasher done 2day and the car dyno tuned as I thought car was a bit sluggish, turned out I was very low on power, the tuner did a few tests and found out after running 10psi thru the turbo only 4psi was coming out other end of the cooler!! so he diagnosed a blocked intercooler... anyways I took the car home and removed the cooler and replaced it with another one from a mate, test drove same fkn thing!! very low on power.... I just dosent make sense I checked all the cooler piping for splits, looseness, blockage... only other things I can think of are actuator?? boost solonoid??? blocked cat converter?? any help would be great, thanks in advance.... rocky

For anyone to be able to help you, you need to list more information about your car!

Things like:

Age

Mileage

Other mods

Etc.

car is stock standard 03 xr6t with custom cold air intake, 55,000kms, always been sluggish since ive had it....

First I would get Ford to connect the WDS to check for sensor errors.

It could be a TMAP sensor or boost sensor which is not working properly.

Stuffed cat is possible by not likely.

If you have checked ALL possible sites for boost leak, then that is not it either. This is not that easy to do though, as splits can cause this, and they are difficult to find.

Can you hear any 'hissing' under boost?

Anyway, a few ideas for you :gfight:

thanks mate 4 your ideas, I have already scanned the ecu and it only brought up one code which is "wastgate operation failed" im told by the tuner it is because there is big pressure drop in the system...anyways I did a vacuum test from the turbo and the inlet manifold and @ the turbo it read 10psi @ the inlet it read 4psi, I also did a vacuum test for leaks read fine.... I put the car up on the hoist, and listend for inlet leaks definetly sounded like a leak at the bottom on the inlet so I figured it must be leaking under load... so I removed the inlet manifold to my dissapointed the gasket look as new...today I will try remove the cat if its not that I cant be anything but the tubrocharger :(

On the stock IC and plumbing you can expect a drop of 4 or so psi due to basic design restrictions... but with an edit you should still see 10psi at the moanifold, Id imagin most stock cars running 10psi, the turbo is pushing 14or so.

What boost is it running at on the stock ford tune? 5 or 6?

the tune is set @10psi and only getting 4psi @ the manifold....even before the flasher I wasnt getting boost till bout 4000rpm......anyways I dropd the cat 2day and that didnt help, my last option is to remove the turbo and get it checked along with the wastgate and actuator.....

I agree with rapid on this one the stock cooler has a preassure drop.

when mine was stock 15psi at the compressor got me 10 at the motor.

I dont think that at lower boost levels its that bad, it gets worse the more u pump into it, eg 18 in 12 out.

mabee u just need more boost added in to the tune.
