There are too many factory variations, so they make them alot smaller so you can get them machined to suit each piston

If you are only looking for 380-420rwkw the stock pistons will be fine, once you start going over 420 you have to start replacing turbo's, fuel system, min 4 inch dump etc.....

So how did you go with the standard pistons mate? Did they hold up ok and did you ever reach 400+??? I'm looking into a set of these rods at the moment as they're selling at a really good price on ebay but not too sure about piston choice. I want something that's going to be as quiet, if not quieter than factory that can handle 18+lbs of boost and 400+rwkw... Any suggestions out there?

Also, what else should I be replacing to have a reliable bottom end at my desired power/boost levels? Is a main stud girdle necessary like the ones that come with the 950kw atomic motor?

Thanks in advance :buttrock:

Atomic rods are more than just a couple of hundred more... Their 'Fat' rods are in the region of $1500 iirc. I don't know about their build quality being second to none either when you've got the likes of ARGO, Carillo, Eagle etc who make rods for all types of cars, not just XR6T's and RB's. Surely these companies would have to rate as well?

On my other question, has anyone had any experience with ARIAS pistons? I remember speaking to someone that had a set in their T and they had nothing but praise for them. I got a quote on a set today for ~$1500... Is that a good price?

Had that the above setup running 390rwkw for 7000km and with the hiccups, I have decided to pull down the motor and put pistons girdle etc in to run some nitrous or a bigger turbo for some higher power levels. the girdle will be a waste if you use standard pistons because your pistons will let go well and truley before your mains will go.

The atomic fat 'rods' look really similar to the Eagle Chev rods, I thought that '8' of them were on special now for like $600 dollars or something. :stirthepot:
