Not convinced it is the thing to do yet. What about you? Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/3286-bike-riders-out-there/ Share on other sites

I had a Honda CBR600 (1999) and sold it to buy the wife a car when she had our first rugrat. The Wife had a Honda CB250 (2000) which we just recently sold to pay for paving. How sad is that.... :( Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/3286-bike-riders-out-there/#findComment-24266 Share on other sites

I raced it on and off from 99 to the end of 2002. Put it back on the road last christmas. (I've got Ohlins suspension for sale if anyones interested) Pretty trick road bike - but road riding is nothing like the track. Give me the track any day - it's safer! AMoffat Member 744 Member For: 22y 6m 14d Posted 24/05/03 11:52 AM Author Share Posted 24/05/03 11:52 AM I go the other way Scott,I like the road, it may not be as safe, but it sure as hell is fun.By that I mean over the long time. Plan the trip, hit the less populated roads, go for it, but know when to tame it down. This has kept me relatively safe for 20 years. Know your limits and don't woory about Hailwood, Dunlop, Doohan, or , Bayliss. Just enjoy the road.. harasn Used to work at the Ford Proving Ground! Lifetime Members 306 Member For: 22y 3m 25d Gender: Male Location: Geelong Posted 24/05/03 11:54 AM Share Posted 24/05/03 11:54 AM we have a 1999 YZF1000. Black and Blue. Nice machine. So smooth! As I live close to "The Great Ocean Road" I play down there a bit but I'm not in it for the speed. I enjoy the open feeling. Except in the city and with other cars. My wife can ride as well but finds the Yammi a bit big. To far a reach. We used to have a 1996 Kawasaki GPX250 that she loved so when the kids grow up enough to sit on the back and hold on we will get her another bike. You guys will get a laught out of this! I have a just 4 year old daughter who loves my bike. Everytime I get it out and wash it she wants to go for a ride. I take her around our court but that's it. We had always said to her that once she could sit on the back seat and touch both rear pegs we would get her a helmet. Well just after she turned 3 I was washing the bike and she wanted to go for a ride. I sat on the bike and the wife dropped her on the back. The next thing my daughter says "I can touch the pegs daddy, you gotta get me a helmet now. In disbelief I turned around to see my wife nodding her head and my daughter sitting on the back proud as punch that she could touch the pegs flat footed. Bloody race style bikes! so now after much tears we have told her she can have a helmet when she is going to school and then come for rides. scarry when a 3 year old could legally be on the back of a bike! Oh, well, he has had a year of driving around on his 'P's so hopefully he wil e OK, with me help. plonky The Bionic Man - half man-half titanium Member 1,766 Member For: 22y 2m 12d Location: Dodge Scat Pack Posted 24/05/03 11:01 PM Share Posted 24/05/03 11:01 PM I just sold my Ducati 748SP. Beautiful bike with Texas Industries carbon cans etc etc. Haven't been able to ride for the past 12 months after a was cleaned up on my BMW.Basically I don't know what happened. I was riding along on a country road and the next thing I know is 12 days later in Hospital. The BMW was completely written off (unfortunately it won't be replaced in the office. The Boss is a bit gun shy about almost losing a man and bike)The damage on the bike indicates that I was clouted by a car that didn;t stop. I was found on the road 3 hours after the acco. I was unconcious, broke my femur, pelvis, all of the metacarpals in my left hand, broke four ribs, punctured both lungs, bruised my brain and my right arm was ripped off my shoulder and kept inside my leather jacket. I was airlifted to Hospital and died on the flight. I had three transfusions and was on life support for 12 days.Accidents like that can happen, even to the best of us. The AIS showed that the car crossed over the centre lane and hit me on the bike. Some one out there is a lucky guy....I'll kill them if I find them.Almost any injury can be put behind you if you want. I am back at work on full duties and still on the SPG as an operational unit. Sometimes it hurts a bit but you get that.......Before the Ducati I had another Duke. A 900 SS. Before that was a 1997 FLHR Harley Davidson Road King with Screaming Eagle air cleaner and cans. Before that was a Ducati 900SS Darmah. Before that was a Z1RMK2, a GPZ900R, a Z900 Mad Max replica, a Z1000 and a RG250 (race bike).Nothing beats bikes for fun!
