DBA with QFM pads or Get ford to machine disc's and have them fit the QFM pads that you supply.

Well we could make some Red-neck comment about shudder being caused by Head, but that'd be just vulgar & I'm not into that in the least.

May as well try the Ford fix first at least.

I had 15,000k service done 3 weeks ago, had brake (std brakes) shudder so bad sometimes couldn't hold onto the steering wheel from about 7,000k, but since I don't often drive it we put up with it for nearly 8,000ks.

Also I couldn't be asked to visit dealer after already making 6 different visits for the missing lifter issue!

They machined the disks, installed the shims and what a difference. Had forgotten what it was like with no shudder.

3 days after service we drove to Melb. (from Syd.) and spent two weeks driving around (when I hadn't been drinking at the GP that is!) including the Yarra, down Mornington Peninsula, across to Queenscliff and then down the Great Ocean Road. (Yes, that was fun, even had some fun with a poorly driven Elise, had to have been poorly driven cause I had 4 adults and a boot full of luggage and could still keep up, lost abit on the corners but more than made up for it on the straights/hills.......)

Racked up about 3,200ks and after GOR expected to have shudder back, at one point there was a very strong brake smell and I expected to see smoke coming from the front but have to say they behaved very well.

So will wait and see......

Brake shudders all gone now, the rotors have been machined and all is well again. But I do have that grinding feeling when turning one way. I'm told that will go soon.

The grinding feeling was gone by the next morning.

Also now with full complement of lifters!

Lifters! WTF! BA's don't have lifters! :nuts2:

I've have the disks machined twice so far....

Once at 14,000 and again at 27,000.

They are great again once the disks are machined. The dude at Brad Garlick Ford said that they have been told to keep on machining. If the disks go undersize as a result, they put on new disks.

Scotty/alxr6t

Probably got it wrong as to what he said, but he did say it was the thing that moves the valve so I'm assuming it's the thingy circled on the left in the picture??

What's the thingy circled on the right?

As you have probably realised, not too mechanical! although interested.

After 15k service the guy told me they had seen "more than 1" of these things missing, nice quality control, NOT!

Cheers
