Well driving to work this morning the dreaded shutter has returned. My Ute has done just over 31,500kms. It was ok for about 4000kms and it has returned.

Back to ford I go :(

Mate spend the $1000 on DBAs and FERODOS then 2 things will happen.

1, you will sleep better

2, The car will actually stop properly. The only thing a standard braked T is good at stopping is your peace of mind, oh ........ and also warranty claims from guys like Owna. The brakes are CRAP :spit::kissmy:

I am thinking of getting QFM pads as the Ferodo Forumulas work great with the slotted DBAs but are squealy as hell still. Anybody know how much they are front and rear?

You are right genebaby, the ferodos squeal sometimes under light braking but I'm gonna stick with them. I did 10 over 200kph emergency stops on a far away back road at new year. Stopped every time hard and fast, the only fault I could find was that my shiney wheels were a little dusty. I'm on a good thing and I'm sticking to it. :kissmy:

:smilielol: Picked my car up on 24/12/02 . First shudder at 3000km, I have had the car back in for service 6 times for the brakes to be assessed in the first year. The last time I had it back, they had it for 3 days. On the drive home from the service the rear brakes started to grab and eventually caught fire before I could pull over on the freeway, thankfully not to much damage to the exterior of the car. I think the initial shudder is a Factory problem and the followup issues are to do with the dealers service technicans not knowing their job. Since I got the car back after the fire the brakes have been great, fingers crossed

that's a new one! Brakes catching fire on the freeway. You've got to wonder where some dealerships get their monkeys from.

Welcome anyway forcefed, enjoy! :smilielol:

Hi iascmidt

The Qfm's (pads) that you guys are talking about, if I install these pads with the standard rotors will this fix the shudder problem?

I think someone on this site stated that he had done this and it had fixed the problem. Was it you?

Hi All

I put my car in for the 15000km service last week with a slight shudder under brakes. I mentioned this to the dealer and when I got my car back he said that they had skimmed the discs and fitted the shimms as per the factory recommended fix.

Fair enough I thought, sceptical but we'll see how it goes. They didn't have time to rotate the tyres and wheel align as requested, so I took it to a local Tyre shop as they have the latest state of the art equipment.

After about an hour he comes and tells me that there's been a delay because they had to dismantle the suspesion to remove 3 shimms totaling about 25mm because it was throwing my camber way out.

He also said my toe was out of whack causing the car to crab down the road.

My concern is this; are these shimms the things they added just a week before and if so what do they have to do with the brake shudder issue?

Or am I Totally on the wrong track as usual? Any Ideas guys?
