On the brake shudder issue. I've been continually going back to Ford. Suffice to say they have tried all sorts of things, that I am not at liberty to say, but the DBA rotors DO NOT fix rthe problem! I know. The dealers have no hope of fixing the issue and the Ford engineers seem to be going down the road of making statements that the problem is one of "perception" and that the owners are to sensitive to the issue. Look out, as if Ford was serious about a fix they would have initiated a recall or something similar but on the "quiet". I've driven a Jan 2003 build XT auto, only the slightest shuuder/shimmy.(2578km on the clock) I've also driven a April 2003 build Failmont,(2800km) and it is just as bad as my Turbo. They are still building cars which are faulty. Does anyone actually believe that Ford will recify this problem, after 7 months of production. My car is a manual, so it appears that every car is affected to some degree.

I for one have had enough as my car has almost spent more time at the dealer than in my garage. Anyone interested in getting together to force a change, be that through and with the co-operation of Ford or through legal / civil means, leave me a message. If the response is big enough, I'm prepared to do the leg work, for my sake and every other owner.

Are you an all knowing God, FALCHOON58? Do you know what ford are doing to fix the problem? Not likely. Threatening legal action cause you have shudder in your car and Ford hasn't fixed it permanently yet? WTF with that!

I think you need to come back down to the real world in a big hurry! Ford knows of the problem and is finding a fix for it as quick as they can. Its costing them big money in warranty so they have to! as you should have read in above posts its being worked on but you know better and believe that they are not! I forgot! Ford can not repair the problem when they don't have a permanent fix for it in place as yet! so there is no point of calling for a recall. Besides does the car not stop? is it going to cause an accident? It still all works but feels crappy. No need for a recall as such, just fix all the cars permanently when they have the fault! Some of the problem is with dealers not having the equipment to measure the shudder and diagnose the problem correctly. Its something that they have never had to do before! With you being told its a perception thing that's crap the dealer has fed you, it either shudders or not. no half way stuff!

I have just done 12,000kms in my BA XR6 and have no problems with the brakes. Looking at the Poll, many people have not had problems with the brakes. How far have you travelled in between getting a fix and the shudder returning? What type of driving do you do? Threaten legal action! WTF again!

These thoughts have nothing to do with Ford it is just my own personal opinion!

I'm with Harasn on this one.

Key factor 1.. All along we have been given GOOD! insider info to that fact the Ford are looking into it.

Key factor 2.. Lets stay cool and wait paitently until a fix is found.

Key factor 3.. Find a dealer you can build a good working relationship with and TRUST what they say.

Key factor 4.. Ford have a fantastic product in the BA. They do not and will not let it go to grap over an issue like this. I firmly believe they will provide a fix..

I have done 7,600km since April and have no problems (including some spirited driving!.. :o )

Harasn - Is it possible for us to work with Ford and be giunea cops and test some of the ideas they are working with. Especialy the guys with the problem? I would be happy to..

Its a nice idea to be a test dumby out in the real world but in reality it wont work! One of the reasons being that the way you drive is different to the way I drive and things like that. also you wouldn't do the amount of km's quickly enough. we have these shudder cars running 24hrs a day testing different possible fixes. you drive for possibly 5hrs a day! Its frustrating to wait, but I'm afraid that's what you have to do. we have a test procedure that we drive all the versions of the shudder fix through. its repeatable to the nth degree! we will fix it soon. hold on. dealers dont know that much to be honest. I know when I worked in a dealership that they hear sqwat of what testing ford was doing to fix a problem. just get told how to fix it in the end! be patient. I know its hard.

no way me doing that job. to much politics for me! I hate the politics at Ford.

Would be good though as all the speed limits would be abolloshed, minimum factory new car power outputs would be 300kw at the wheels, no bowling hatted drivers! defensive and advanced driving courses would have to be done before getting your license and so on. Sounds good actually! where do I sign!

harasn> With the cars Ford is testing do they believe the problem to be driver related? I know many cars don't suffer the shudder - maybe a "running-in" procedure for the brakes needs to be published by Ford so customer can get the best service from their brakes without poblems arising.

Maybe this would be a good idea on bedding in brakes on this car Turbo6man but reality is the car has made available for Mr or Mrs average to buy a proformance car with comfort and reliability that looks good to.I just want to drive the thing,To be honust I love how it goes and gets respectable fuel consumption and has a good ride too.I dont think the average person who are luckie enough to have one of these things wants to be instructed on how to bed in brakes if this is the problem. The question will always be from your dealer if the problem occurs in the first place is how have you been driving the car to result in this shudder?.Your word against them mate and you feel as if your doing something wrong,I dont think so.BMW tried this bedding in thing years ago and had that many brake problems,Warranty issues I think it heart them in the end.

I am glad to hear that the Ford guy is aware of this issue and I am sure they will realise a upgrade so that a P plater at 18 or a grandmother can get into this car and have no problems. What it should of been in the first place,Suitable for everybody regardless of driving style,Age or Km driven.
