Thanks chrislak.

I have changed my brakes over on the weekend. Got sick of taking it back to ford for more machine jobs, and the "permanent fix" is not worth the time it takes to take the thing back. I managed to get them to thermal shudder the afternoon I picked it up after the fix.

In the end, I went for longlife slotted at the front only (rears when finances allow) , and changed the pads on all 4 wheels to bendix ultimates.

Makes a HUGE difference. Shudder only time will tell, but these pads make such a massive difference to braking power. My eyeballs have almost fallen out of my head from decelleration. I am over the moon.

Quite an easy job. Took me 3/4 of saturday to change 2 rotors and all the brake pads. Another convert to the "Ford can get stuffed, I'm gonna fix it myself" brigade.

Trumpy, you'll enjoy your car a lot better now with you DBA/Bendix combo, I too only replaced the front rotors though I had both front and rear sets of pads fitted.

I don't think Ford are really going to fix this brake shudder problem.

Just priced the Premium rotor & Caliper to suit from Ford dealer:

Rotor    $561 incl.GST ea.

Caliper $665 incl.GST ea.

These are retail prices & was also told that there is no braket as such to connect the caliper to the strut/stub axle?

mmmm nice.

As Premium is only slotted rear discs, the calipers and front discs, using a set of DBA replacements (surely less than $500) and the genuine Ford caliper (which is probably made/cast with a diffing mounting arrangement to pick up stock mounts on the knuckle) it could be a very very viable conversion.....

Wouldn't happen to have the part numbers of rthe calipers would you?

Just found out that DBA do not have a replacement for the Premium rotor!

As far as P/N's go, tried but was told that they will not give them out!

Would the Premium calipers be the same twin piston PBR jobbies fitted to Mustangs with 330mm discs? Very curious as the calipers are available as new items in the US for about AU$600 per pair landed with lines and pads...

Ponders... ms700 care to check the theory?

Very similar but not the same.

The Mustang rotor is 330mm x 28mm and the Premium is 325mm x 32mm.

I have those PBR calipers here and they don't fit unfortunately. Larger bolt, different mount height, ECT...... :(
