I have had the same exprience with replaceing the discs and being perfect for 9000km.I am starting to get the shudder back only when getting hot.I asked Ian up in Qld as he did them about the same time and was exprienceing the shudder slowly coming back in but has replaced his pads and all is fine. Will be putting new pads in next week.

I really do not think this modification is going to work in the long run as the combination of poor quality metal in the discs plus pad material suffering badly from heat soak will never go away.

A interesting example would be to try new decent pads after a machine job on the original disc.Has anyone just replaced the pads out there?.

Hi all  , please excuse me for my ignorance  . But what are 'DBA' rotors? How much are they on average & who installs them? I am in Newcastle (NSW) looking to purchase an XR6t & I want to know what I am up for. At the moment this seems to be a major problem & a dissapointment considering that I expect nothing but the highest quality from a car that is badged a FORD!

I've just replaced my front pads today so I'll let you know how they go when I get a few K's on them.

With my XR6T ute sill a few weeks away the brake shudder problem is a concern. Some guys seem to the right idea by replacing pads and rotors but only do it after the problem starts. the fix is really simple, use a really good quality pad (pagid, EBC, endless). Not sure if all make a BA pad as yet but all make fantastic pads.

Stay away from any mettalic pads. The job of the pads is to not only slow the rotor(stop the car) but to help disapate the heat generated.

I have found this out the expensive way, having had to skim rotors after every speed event in my current ride. Fitted a set of pagid road pads(they made great race pads also) and did 3 meetings and 15000km road with no probs. No warm up needed, no fade. No mean feat in a car that weighs over 1650 kg. Also cut a set of EBC to suit and worked just as well(did give a slightly harder pedal)

I am starting to see maybe everybody will be able to just upgrade there pads to cure this problem. The state of my original pads when I changed the rotors was terrible but had to much meat left on them to replace them.Maybe all that's needed is a machine and throw the original pads in the bin.

I have a question regarding the brake shudder issue. How are the cars driven  ? (Other than from behind the steering wheel) I mentioned this issue to the FORD dealer I am negotiateing with & he reckons that he has never heard of the problem & that it must be isolated incidents & the way the cars are being driven! I basically said that is a load of s#!t  What have FORD said to you guys about this?

I read earlier in this forum about someone saying that they have spent enough money on this car & that it should be running sweet. And I totally agree. I'm not spending near $50k to buy a lemon. I wouldn't have the money to get it fixed if this problem is as wide spread as it seems. I am still up in the air about this & I might wait for series 2! :tears:

they are trying to sell you a car of course they are going say its a isolated problem. if that's the case why would they bring out a attemp fix.

edit - when I was buying the car I asked the dealer about it and I got the reply "he never heard of it"
