No way no how the dealer is going to machine my discs again when I book it in. Has Ford found a fix for this yet and not telling anyone. I am not hard on brakes at all and don't understand why it keeps happening. Also my steering is very clunky when parking...very noisy....anyone else had this? The shudder returned again, and this time the Service Manager called Ford in Melbourne and explained that the shudder had returned. They instructed this dealership to replace both the discs and the Hub.I don't know if the Hub is also a cause of the shudder, or if Ford had replaced the Hub because of what damage the shudder could have caused to it? Guest ante Guests Posted 28/07/03 02:32 AM Share Posted 28/07/03 02:32 AM G day guys, Im sure the rotors fitted to the cars come from dba anyway, it seems the only way to solve the brake shudder is by fitting the cross drilled & slotted disc. Im sure Steve from dba will correct me if Im wrong on the supply remark. Anyway steve are there any plans on upping the specs on future factory rotors
Guest catlike Guests Posted 28/07/03 12:17 PM Share Posted 28/07/03 12:17 PM I found out today that my T is now an August build and not Sept :D The strange thing is that I have mixed feelings about it because I was kinda hoping that they would've fixed the brake thing before it was built

Anyway steve are there any plans on upping the specs on future factory rotors we make our own rotors and they are not bought from DBA! I have been working with this problem for a while and this SUPPOSED fix of this springs sounds like the biggest load of crap! Hub maybe, but there are other causes. DBA steve isn't far off the make on some things but we have been talking! New Discs no matter who supplies them wont fix the majority of these shudder problems! Guest ante Guests Posted 29/07/03 01:15 AM Share Posted 29/07/03 01:15 AM Hi Harasn, some good news and bad from Ford. If the guys fit premium brakes that include larger diam disc or another brand and dont get the brake shudder would this suggest that the factory rotors are slightly undersized for these cars. I thought brake shudder is caused by rotors going out of shape from heat ( hard braking ) what seems worse some normal driving gives the same trouble. Come on guys the EL falcon had the same trouble, I can remember the EB falcon it had huge rotors compared to the EL and it had none of this crap. Anyway steve are there any plans on upping the specs on future factory rotorsAs Harasn said we don't supply O.E rotors for the BA. We have sent our samples down for testing to see if the problem was originating from the discs. As I had mentioned before our discs were more resistant to thermal shudder but this cold shudder issue is not a disc problem. I would think that the cross drilled rotors hold up well because they are more aggressive towards the pads.On the topic of the Premium and GT rotors;Although the hubs are the same, both rotors and calipers are different. The Premium being based on a C5 Corvette brake kit and the GT is based on a Jaguar kit. All proven designs.. P.S Saw my first GT-P on the road last Friday night........very nice..
