My BA has alway's had shudder the comes and go's, it has the click in the steering when overloaded, and now has developed a knock when getting off the breaks. I recon this is all because of these rack bolts. Can we fix these ourselves?

Gidday " Bloan "

I hate to rain on your parade ? but I thought the same way you did and when the brake shudder started I steered away from anything ford and opted for after market new rotors and pads to suit from R.D.A that was a fix for about 10.000km then shudder returned so I had them machined and even threw away the almost new pads and opted for something softer a lot of dust but sure enough back came the shudder at about the same time around 10.000km, I now have fitted new slotted and dimpled rotors with soft pads and see if this solves the problem which I doubt and from what I can see (NOBODY) has yet come up with a perminent fix without morgaging your home for brake upgrade.

Hi All once more.

I am just checking in to find out if anybody has found a perminent fix for the BA brake shudder that wont brake the bank I have tried aftermarket rotors and pads then re machined them when shudder returned now have slotted and dimpled rotors with soft pads from RDA but I fear I am only buying some time before the dreaded shudder returns has anybody come up with a perminent fix.

P.S any advice would be appreciated.

I see you found this thread

Read the posts, the issue is not the brakes (unless they are warped from excessive heat ) it is the front control arm bushes.

Get in touch with Pat at Wholesale Suspension products and he will sort you out. :spoton:

:stupid:

You can try all the discs and pads you like but until you fix the real problem....suspension bushes, control arm bushes you will always have brake shudder

My steering would shake slightly under medium to heavy braking. Changed the lower control arm bushes and the shaking is gone.

+1 for replacing worn bushes at the fronts. I did upper+lower arms on the chassis side and upper ball joint. Well, Luke did them, I helped a bit :) Brake shudder/steering wobble under brakes now gone! Replaced after 24 hours with standard high frequency brake shudder that it had when I bought it 3 years ago, now to get the discs looked at. Hopefully the DBA4000's will be ok with a skim, they've copped a beating from the worn bushes.

Hi guys bit of a necro as no ones posted in a while,

Ive been getting a shudder which appears even when I dont brake, but when the shudder occurs and I DO brake it feel horrible (like the wheels are gona come off!) I have recently had the balancing and alignment done (as I thought it could have been balance)

My rotors have groves in them but nothing major, since it happens even without braking im guessing it could be the bushes?

Is it expensive to have it looked at? I wont be attempting it myself :D

Checked all your wheels are on tight and not missing any nuts?

I had very similar issues after my car being at a dealer. One of the idiots didn't set the torque wrench right and all my nuts were loose. One even came off on the freeway.

I swear to god the only per-requisite to get an apprentice mechanic job at a dealer is to be a drugged up moron with a rats tail.

Thanks for your reply mate, yea wheels are on tight, the shudder comes and goes, it pretty much didnt shudder the whole trip (2.5 hours) but on the way back it was horrible,

When I take off from the lights and turned I can here a creeking coming from the suspension, im guessing this could be the bushes.
