There completely fine again. I really only stopped for 30seconds and got straight back into it. The biggest flogging they and the rest of the car have ever had. Makes me think that something else was playing up but I do highly rate there ongoing effectiveness.

BF 2006 XR6T, done 36K in and out of Ford, only in the front end, replaced rotors, new callipers, new pads, machined rotor, new callipers, replaced rotors, replaced pads and after market pads, warranty runs out in 4 days, I think the next step is sell the car and start again. Cars is not driven hard, mainly my wife around town 60km a day.

Hey guys,

Just picked up a 2005 BF XR6T a couple of days ago and it seems I have a slight brake shudder in certain situations.

I've read the first ten and last two pages of this thread but honestly I haven't got a spare day to read 73 pages :crybaby:

The car still has 4 months of new car warranty, so I was wondering whether Ford has actually come up with a solution to this problem, or will I have to get the discs machined for now and then just replace them with some slotted DBA 4000s when the shudder returns?

Thanks, Paul.

You can get Ford to machine them under warranty if you like but the shudder will come back sooner or later.

Only sure fix is to replace the rotors and pads with better quality items, the DBA 4000s that you mentioned are a good option.

I have had a minor shuddering problem ever since I gave the brakes a work out on the snowies cruise (above mentioned by I.B.) it has recently gotton alot worse.

I am thinking that the cooler weather has alot to do with it, but I really have had enough of the shudder and can't be flanged with taking it to Fraud for warranty call... so upgrade time.

I got a price for DBA Slotted 4000 series from StupidCheap Auto and Bendix Ultimate Pads all round for my ute and it came to $700. I did not realise that I.B. had the same brakes though :banghead: we both had to stop to allow our brakes to cool (on Snowies trip) and then continued on with out issues. I really don't want to spend $700 and end up with the same problem though.

Is there a better option out there for Slotted rotors other than DBA, high quality and not too expensive??? Anyone?

Hi all my 2006 BF XR6T has Ford Premium brakes (PBR) and always had a high speed shudder . I fixed the issue my self in an afternoon by replacing the rotors with slotted ones . The shuddder was comming from the gasses from the hot pads being trapped against the smooth face ofthe rotor , slots alow this gas to get away .
