The whole cryogenic treatment has been around for ages and I have known of it being used on engine components etc but I have always wondered if it works on brake components, specifically rotors.. Id love to hear how it works out and if it works give it a go myself. There are people in Perth who used to do the treatment (dont know if they still do..) and as you have said, it involves cooling the parts and then slowly bringing them back to ambient temps... If you look what a fresh set of premo rotors costs as opposed to the cryo treatment, it may well be worth it... Please let us know how it works for you... Im involved in club level motorsport and would love to give the F6 a try but the costs of consumables, specifically tyres and brakes, has me a bit scared!!! Good luck dude!!

Warp and shudder generally result from differential heating across the rotor disc again generally caused by humans and not necessarily technology. Auto drivers are most at risk.....after firm braking there is a fair amount of heat around the disc and callipers to be dissipated, that car now arrives at the traffic in front - cross roads or red lights and after coming to a halt leaves foot on brake and callipers in firm contact with one section of the disc rotor. There is now a progressively significant heat differential between the area clamped between the hot fluid, callipers and pads and the rest of the disc = warp discs = pedal pulsing and shuddering next time you brake. In a manual one tends to go for neutral and handbrake which avoids that issue.

:sleepystuff:

Just had the 120K service and guess what more brake shudder and a costly repair to the discs.

The stupid thing about it is that I am still on my original set of pads!

This really should be a warranty repair.

I have got a 04 xr6t ute manual with 40,000km on it. I have brake shudder and it gives me the :censored:. So ford don’t cover brake shudder under warranty? If not how much is it to get the breaks machined. Surely ford would have to cover it under warranty, what can you do it cause it. I have only just had the ute for a few months so don’t know how it was treated before. The previous owner didn’t seem to be the person who was tough on the ute because it was in immaculate condition in and out. I didn’t notice it before but now its getting worse. I do mostly city driving average 45km/h. Its got me stumped. Any help. :banghead:

Hey all, just had my rotors machined and pads replaced with the bendix's (dealers' choice, no charge so not complaining) and no shudder at all now,

hope it helps
