I discussed this with their customer relations person.I thought it was always advisable to replace pads if you have a machining done, but not in Fords view.I was hoping if I put the pressure on Ford with enough complaints they might have come to the idea of the installation of the kit, but no such luck. They would only do their fix even though the dealer tried to get more. Ford would only pay the machining.I had the PBR's installed by the local garage. So that's actually the end of going to a Ford dealer for any further servicing.Colin

After the 2nd machining they then conceed to replacing the rotors. There is a good thread in this section on other ideas for the front brake replacement. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=20489

Mine's a 2002 BA XR6 with about 61,000km on the odo (the people I got it off 2nd hand hardly drove it). I'll be replacing it with the new BF XR6T in a few weeks time. I too had the brakes machined (3 times within a year) and even the pads replaced to the new softer compound ones (rather than go for a 4th machining) which blacken my alloys very quickly soon after washing the car. So, I am soo glad the new BF XR6T has different and what's more bigger brakes... (even though they are the Territory's - but nobody has said anything bad about them so far...) I was soo glad ... ColinT Donating Members 372 Member For: 19y 11m 7d Posted 19/11/05 10:50 AM Share Posted 19/11/05 10:50 AM Friend at work had the brake shudder issue at last. He car was booked it in for the a service and brake shudder fix. When he came to pick up the car he was told the discs were machined and he would be charged for that machining. When he queried this, he was told that it wasn't a warranty claim as the brakes are only covered up to 75,000 klm.He accepted this as went out to the car. When he sat in he saw the speedo said 74,687 klm. He went back and spoke to the dealer who said he made a mistake and the brakes are only covered to 50,000 klm.Not being happy with this change he rang Ford who also said 50,000. After 30 mins on the phone Ford agreed to pay for the machining. Such comments from Ford were:Its not a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. We wouldn't want to disclose to the public the 50,000 klm warranty on the brakes.Different parts have different warranty periods. So what does the warranty cover?? Who realy knows.

Well, the shudder went away but the front alloys got really black with brake dust after about 2 days of city driving. So, I think the best way is to change the brakes out if you can afford it and still luv the rest of the car. But if not, the softer compound stuff seemed to work for me albeit it has its side-effects I.e. be prepared to wash your car on the street instead of your drive because the black brake dust stuff is really hard to get off your drive way I've driven my BF XR6T now for just over 5000km and no sign of brake shudder with the Territory brakes :banghead2:
