what symptoms does brake shudder show is it when your braking and your steering wheel wobbles pls tell me pm me might be easier

As I mentioned in my post I could hear a rattle from a front disc pad initially. Then the other week I was turning slowly into a parking bay and applied the brakes and you could feel the shudder through the car and hear it also.

The Ford fix.

After talking to 2 people I work with today who have BA XR's they both said after the second machining Ford replace the pads with a softer compound.

Ford claim the warping of the rotors is because the pads are too hard.

BUT you should see the mess these pads make of the mag wheel. Totally black after a week. What a mess.

And now the pads squeel at low speed. To fix this Ford chamfer the leading edge but that didn't work.

I am going to have to look into DBR rotors or the PBR kit definetly.

have been hearing from all the brake guru's that it is inherant with the design of the vehicle. The pads are too long for the 2 piston calipers, the disc assembly sits in the wrong place in to get adequate cooling and the original rotors are made from crap material that can't take the heat.

To rectify the faults then the complete system has to be replaced.

So the full PBR Performance Kit (PK-8) will be going on ASAP.

Ford rotors might be crap, but I don't rate dBa ones much better.

I put some slotted dBa rotors on my EF at 221,000kms.

I'm now on 245,000 kms and my shuddering is extreme.

I think they've warped.....

This is exactly what I was told.

If you put DBA rotors on of the same diameter and thickness they will warp because of the heat. that's another reason I went for the PBR kit and the rotors are 325x32mm instead of 298x28. Pad area 73.1cm instead of 71 also.

Ordered the kit this morning, pick it up next week then fitting to be done.

The car went in today and I was told that 2004 vehicles don't qualify for new brake pads when the rotors are machined. I contacted Ford when I got home because I thought they were. I left a message with Ford and a reply came in about an hour.

The person informed me that there were a small number of 2003 vehicles within a VIN number range that had a problem with brake shudder. My vehicle would be machined but Ford had fixed the brake shudder issue in 2004 vehicles so the pads don't get replaced.

It turns out the Dealer had also contacted Ford because he thought pads were included. He told me that after nearly an hour of discussion he got no where. Ford also said since when do dealers tell the customers what is contained in technical briefs. My dealer said he wasn't going to lie if he is asked the questions.
