I've just had the latest fix applied to my car (after a minor shudder was fixed at the 30000km service, I managed to get really bad shudder back within 3000km). The new fix included skimming front and rear rotors and new pads.

So far brake feel is OK and actual stopping power much better from high-speeds than ever before.

The 'new' fix was released around mid-April

Aaronmihne,

This fix was released at the start of the year not April. Look at my post from 11 Jan 2005.

So far no shudder back and I agree the brakes feel better but they now squeal at slow speed.

Cheers,

I had the problem at 15000km's pld, it was resolved by Ford, they said it was a shim problem and they also machined the rotors and also said the brake system was on a extended warranty. The car is now 45000km's old with a brake shudder problem again. I have an auto turbo and mainly do city driving, and have noticed its occur on both times when I;m giving the car a hard time with its brakes.

Onya TurboDean for dragging up this one from the archives :spoton: Best option is to go for a PBR upgrade( same as factory Premiums) PM bcro1 who should be able to help. Should the budget not stretch that far , go for some DBA slotted rotors on the front and some performance pads allround. Should set you back around $700 fitted and will stop better and handle the flogging more than the stock Ford brakes , which as we all know are  ohhh and no more shudderbug as well

Well I had unfortunatly voted that I hadn't had any brake shudder at 20K, but as you can guess it's started on the right front at 26k.

I have suspected there has been a rattle caused by the brake pad on that side at about 40-50klm per hr.

So I guess as the 30k service is comming up I'll have it fixewd then unless it suddenly gets worse.

I've heard various fixes from machining the rotors to shimming the pads, which one has the best results??

60,000k's later discs machined 3 times, then replaced been machined once, new pads, my conclusion, stock rotors are not going to cut it for an 1800 kilo auto.

And it really disappoints me after spending 50k on a car the manufacturor refuse to address the issue. That being the rotors are to small, IMO. Shimming, different pads, "green" discs is all crap, you stand on em a few times, if not once, they warp.

rant off.....

Looked at pricong of 2 options today.

Purchase the PBR performance brake system which replaces front and back rotors, disc pads and braided lines. Cost $1950

Purchase DBA 504X rotors for the front. Slotted and cross drilled. Cost $138 each.

Now to make the decission.

TOO bad Ford don't put decent brakes on the car standard, like Expensive Daewoo have.
