Mr X,

Your Signature states that you have a 10/03 build car.  I thought the brake shudder problem was fixed from 10/03.  Interesting.

I was going to go to ford and demand the new braking system be put on my car but if it solves nothing.....I won't bother.  QFM pads here I come.

Cheers,

BAXR6T

Yeah probably a waste of time going to Ford BAXR6T.This car has 11,000 km's on the odo and my wife has driven it fairly sedately for 9500 of them at least. That was the first time I've driven it hard and I mean really hard and I think they,re a boy doing a man's job(standard brakes that is)Premium brakes should be standard on these things. :Welcome2FordXR6t:

Yeh, my T-bird has shudder and it's just come out of it's 30,000km service. They "machined the discs":pinch: and "changed the pads", the only thing I'm certain of is that they changed the pads, as I saw them doing that. next thing I'm changing is tyres and possibly buying some DBR rotors. It get's the shudder really bad

My standard grade QFM's have done 16,000k's & I'm berry happy with them.

I THINK THE MOST ANNOYING FACT OF THIS BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE IS THE AGGRAVATION AND LACK CUSTOMER ENJOYMENT FROM DRIVING THEIR FORD, THAT WE SHOULD HAVE EXPERIENCED.

90,000 KM'S(4 brake machines including two new front rotors) and I still find myself sensing that all is not right under my feet.

I think the argument for a subsidised brake upgrade has some real merit, but after talking with Ford Customer Service and being told 'NO' and 'TO TAKE IT AS I WILL' , I guess it'll be brembos or another make of vehicle next time!

Just for the record with the Poll taken from around MAY,my car is a BA XLS Auto ute, build date oct 2002, (bought new....ordered).

Oh man where do I start?

Had my brakes machined at 14k, after putting up with it for about 5 or 6k!

Then had them done again at about 25k, then again at about 35k :spoton:

One of my mates works at a certain brake manufacturer, and says that originally when ford came to them with a design for thier calaper and rotor package , they were told by this certain brake manufacturer that the calipers were too agressive for the rotor material!

Ford told them that it would be okay. :msm:

Apparently they went back to them after they realised they were wrong, and said they wanted it fixed!

I think that they changed the piston seal groove tolerences?

But that was about sep 03, and was supposed to be fixed on build dates after that!

Obviously this is not correct because from reading most of these, people are still experiancing problems on later build dates! :msm:

This is the sort of :pooh: that gives Ford the bad reputation that they can't shake!

They really have got to do something!

Oh and of course my Brakes need machining again at 50000!

Next time apparently they will put new rotors on! :w00t2:

Was at the impressive Metro Ford facility yesterday with Al (AXW01,) should of seen the look on the Fleet guys face when the topic of shudder came up (Al has had 6 sets of Rotors & numerous machinings on them in 70,000k's.) He was feeling it every 3,000k's.

Fleet man said "that's very poor, we've had virtually no problems with BA shudder here at Metro's." My laughter could be heard throughout Brisbane.
