Maybe some of the other makers do Scotty, but its much more common in Ford. Asbestos has been banned for years, that's no excuse. If the QFM's fix the problem then that just proves that ford need to cough up a few more $$ to fit pads that are upto the job.

I think that not be true, if you ask around, my brake mate reckons Camry & Commy (post VN) are as bad.

Scotty, l think you need to dip your blue blooded glasses for a minute. l know two owners of new Camrys and l gaurantee you they wouldnt even know what brake shudder even was. There is no 40 page thread on LS1 about the problem either. Its much more common in Ford, that's why this thread exists and has grown into the bloated tale of sh!tefullness that it is today.

No denying the colour of my Glasses (though I'm adamant) they don't equip me with blind faith. We'll agree to disagree I suppose.

Anyway, to new readers with a T - the first thing I did with my car was upgrade the brakes to DBA rotors and bendix ultimate pads. Not only is there no shudder, the brakes pull up far better now and for only $1000 installed.

Well worth it methinks :pinch:

Just get QFM pads, its not dear, they bite harder and it gets rid of the adheasive that comes off the stock pads that cause the shudder. The rotors are fine. Problem solved. :ermm:

I've just had my disc's replaced (again) and also had Ford replace the pads with their "new" designed pads ($270 ouch!). Anyway, has anyone else had this done? Apparently the new pads don’t require the shims??

Any comments would be great

I'm with you on that one. It's enough of an inconvenience having to take the car back to the dealer for annoying (and unforgivable) problems like this!

Why did they make you pay?? Based on the wear already on your existnig pads, or...?
