So is the current cheapest fix to have the discs machined and fitted with QFM? pads ?

or is the DBA slotted rotors the only real fix?

QFM is Queensland Friction Materials, manufactured in Nerang on the Gold Coast. If you contact them on 5596 1099 & they'll tell you of your nearest stockist

DBA's on their Pat Malone won't cure the problem without a pad change away from the Ford pads, problem is the OE pads retain to much heat & don't have much in the way of heat dicipation ability

G'day ktford,

Is there only one type of QFM pad for the Ford BA... (std brake system)

or are there several different material types... eg street use or track use?

If they are a track type performance pad, do they work OK when cold in typical everyday street use?

What type did you fit to your car recently. Sounds like you are pretty happy with them.

cheers

My grease monkey swears by them.

Hi Vik,

Where did you source the QFM's (for your van) from in Adelaide?

Update....@ 15000kms got the shudder on the std brakes, had the on-car machining/new shims installed.

Now just passed 30,000km (mostly country driving), & so far, so good...shudder yet to return!

If it does return, I'll keep on playing the 'warrenty' game then get the aftermarket jobbies (or trade-in to the next new thang!)

Scotty, how do you thing the QFM pads would go on a track day. How would they compare to the Ferodo or other similar performance pads.

Geea.

Why doesnt the AU shudder??

How did they step backwards from one model to another, my AU is an Auto with around 33,000 kms and not even the hint of brake shudder?? I thought the AU brakes were alright to performance wise even though the BA's are bigger....

They shrudder, you're either not driving hard enough or you've not got enough K's up yet. My series 1 has 140odd k's & will shudder upon request
