Posted 10/04/04 03:50 AM Share Posted 10/04/04 03:50 AM A good friend of mine who drives my "T" on occassion, (yes he's a very good friend) recently drove another of his friends "T's". My car is a Feb 2003 build and his other friends is a Dec 2003 build. He told me that the brakes in the two cars are totally different. He said my brakes were like any other cars brakes and similar to the brakes in his new Mazda 6. He said the brakes in the newer "T" weren't very good. He said they felt spongey and that you had to press alot harder and they still didn't feel quite right. I haven't driven this other "T" yet so I can't give a personal opinion. Maybe a few "T" owners with before and after the "fix" "T's" can get together and establish some sort of comparison. Just for the record I have standard brakes and have never had the shudder.Geea. But I have noticed that "sinking" feeling while I've been stopped at lights with my foot on the brakes?

They are rebuilding my confidence in the cars braking system.Scotty
Guest jjsbrown Guests Posted 19/04/04 04:19 AM Share Posted 19/04/04 04:19 AM I had the shims fitted at about 35000 klms but the shudder continued to return.G'day All,Newbie here, have had a Citric Acid XRT since Feb 03. It had machining down at 7500 and 15k and the "Shims fitted" at 15k.What are the shims ?? the Service Rep was not giving much away and like Scotty (was it) I'm trying to be very nice... as the car was bought a different but close dealer (who offered his bosses demo at a great price !)Mines an Auto and I do quite a lot of country driving but that can mean harder stops in the mountains.JB
Guest turbo74 Guests Posted 25/04/04 02:59 PM Share Posted 25/04/04 02:59 PM I had brake shudder after 4000kms took my T to ford and they said they would machine the rotors at least 4 or 5 times before replacing them.so I said stuff that whats the point of going back to the dealer ship every few months so I got myself some DBA longlife gold, cross drilled and slotted front and rear, ive now done 20,000 kms and they look and feel great

A change to the same pads as Scotty CCC runs is coming up very shortly by what he says. It doesn't really instill a lot of confidence in you when your trying to slow down fairly quickly and steer at the same time, its made me very wary which is not good when you live in tassie and you reley on your brakes a far bit. Cost is under warranty anyway.I do recommend a pad change to a higher spec, the Ferodo TS2000 is a very good pad and did fade when I did a track day.
