had DBA slotted 4000s on the T , best upgrade ever. Other than 100 rwkw.

You shouldn't get shudder, what pads are you running ?

im using Ferodo Formula pads ive noticed its getting worse at speed above 110 kph but its perfect below that

you can feel it the most when just touching the brakes at about 115, 120 kph and at the same speed when really jumping on the brakes makes a weird noise too but the more it happens the more I think it has something to do with my cheap maxxis tyres maybe the heaps of sh*t are uneven or something ?

any ideas befor I start pulling sh*t apart on the weekend im gonna remove the rotors clean behind them with some sand paper and file and check to see if they are wearing uneven or not maybe get the local brake centre to wack them on the lathe

cheers trev

Gents,

I have just replaced the front rotors on my '04 T with DBA 4000 Series 6x6 slotted and Bendix Ultimate pads and are very happy so far. A simple job to do and the pedal feels a little more "solid" and less spongy. Stopping power seems to be a bit better too (not yet run in though)

I got the rotors and pads from Hi Tek Brakes in Moorabbin with the rotors being $290 for both and $125 for the pads - ask for Cam. Those guys did a great job of looking after me.

I will stick with the standard rear rotors and get the Ultimate pads for the rear when needed.

Regards

Ken

Hey Ken, did Hi Tek Brakes fit them for you or did you do that yourself. I haven't picked up my BA yet, but already I know I may have to get the brakes upgraded from the test drive. But at least am going in eyes wide open. This'll be my 3rd XR6. First one, BA XR6, had huge brake shudder but thankfully under warranty, so every 3 months or so, would take it in for machining. Second one, BF XR6T didn't have any brake shudder :) So looks like it will be DBA 4000 Series 6x6 slotted with Bendix Ultimate pads or what ever is the latest from DBA and Bendix. Plan on only doing the front. I think I read that $700 was the cost for the parts and fitting from another place. Not too bad considering I used to own an Audi A4 and well ummm lets just say be prepared to part with anything north of $1000 per service

Hi all my 2006 BF XR6T has Ford Premium brakes (PBR) and always had a high speed shudder . I fixed the issue my self in an afternoon by replacing the rotors with slotted ones . The shuddder was comming from the gasses from the hot pads being trapped against the smooth face ofthe rotor , slots alow this gas to get away .

That's a real interesting hypothesis. So is the one from Maximus about pads heating up spots on the discs.

I would find that interesting too considering that the Ford Premium brakes (PBR) already had eliptical slotted rotors, so changing to slotted rotors wouldnt have been much difference in my opinion

ok checked for bearing run out nothing , rotors are even ......

next week im getting the control arm bushes and ball joints changed along with some sway bars fitted if it still does it then it has to be the tyres or maybe one or two of my rims are out of round or something because ive tried putting the back tyres on the front

any ideas anyone its really starting to piss me off big time ?

cheers trev

Well done a check and High Tek Brakes will cost about $1050 for the DBA 4000 upgrade http://www.hightekbrakes.com.au/brakeupgrades.html and that is just the DIY kit. I'd like to have them fitted as well.

Has anybody got other referrals they could give me where they have upgraded their brakes? Looking for around the Melbourne area - not fussy if I have to drive to the edge of town. Just would like to go to a good place that fits parts which have proven to perform hassle free to get rid of brake shudder - don't need V8 supercar performance brakes.

Thanks.
