I'll bet there's a price for your time & I'm guessing that this would have excedded $50 by now. I'm assuming that someone who has a $50k car can afford $50 for an attempt to fix a problem that has spoiled the ownership of his pride & joy.Try the QFM pads mate, you're getting all these lovely new machinings & new rotors with good surfaces & braking with pads that have been through the ringers. Old distorted pads will disfigure your new surfaces.Scotty

I'm sure if it was this problem it would have been cured at the next pad change, but in this case a pad change does not cure the problem. It is something more complex and expensive to fix. It is FORDS responsibility to fix it and untill then I aint buying a new or secondhand one. Expensive Daewoo never ended up fixing brake shudder in my 98 VT. I've changed the pad type and it never cured it. I still dont know what exactly it is but I think it may relate to the design of the bearing hub (gen 3 type design and 600 bucks a set new) not being the best. Its a new design in VT and BAs and not really proven. This may be the same with the Ford. Although premium brakes may seem to have no problems, it may be that it just covers the problem up better.Another theory on the VT onwards shudder is a liquid filled bush on the end of the front suspension control arm that causes shudder problems and that a change to nolathane fixes it. Nevertheless it is a serious problem . This shudder does cause longer braking distances at high speed and could kill someone because of it. There is more than 1 person here who has changed pad type & fixed the problem, so I'm not guaranting that it will work, what I'm suggesting is that for a gamble of $50, try it, see if it works, you'll use the pads regardless so why not try it. Several independant brake shops I've spoke to have all stated that pad material (or lack of asbestos) is the cause of shudder. This isn't something I've dreamt up on my own, it's what supposed experts are talking about.I'm happy to be proven wrong & don't mind the taste of humble pie.Scotty

Ian Hi IanWhat is a QFM type pad ?What's the difference between a QFM pad and the stock Ford pad ?Can you recommend a brand of QFM pads that work OK in the BA's ?Thanks,Scott

That said, some folk might get away with just an upgrade to a better spec. pad, on the other hand those of use who drive/stop harder obviously need more than just a pad upgrade! It is quite evident that Ford in their infinite ignorance can not or more likely will not remedy this problem, therefore we are forced to remedy the situation ourselves! Not very palatable I know but what alternative do we have!My 2c.
