Posted 04/01/04 10:36 AM Share Posted 04/01/04 10:36 AM El brakes did not shudder as much because they still used the old style of brake material the shudder is caused by the pads not the disc's as we all think. That is why more and more brand's of cars are having the same problem. So I would think it has something to do with ability of the pad manufacture to produce a decent pad.I do know of some ford disc's that have been indepandly test and they were found to be up to a very good standard.I have now done 8000 km of very hard driving on non standard pads and I still can not make them shudder. This was after fitting dba gold series disc's with the standard ford pads only to have the shudder come back after 4000 km All I did was replace the pads and I did not machine the dba disc's and the shudder went away in about 200km's and the disc no longer have the black spots on them.Ian

I'm confident if Ian can't get them to shudder you'll have trouble getting them to shudder.Scotty

His reply was that I would be better off getting them done aftermarket and he recommends a brake place that can fit front brembo's for around 2k. He also commented that yes there have been some brake issues but the bulk of the XR6T's have been trouble free. His advice was get the car see how we go and if there are issues get the Brembo's for a better deal and less $$ than the premium's.Apparently the factory doesn't get back into the swing of things until the 12th so then I will have a delivery date..... tick tick RegardsGJ

That would be as good if not better I think.I had it quoted (sort of mates rates too) for 1100, including my 15000k service. Might be worth a look. I could maybe source the parts for you! Posted 05/01/04 11:41 AM Share Posted 05/01/04 11:41 AM we are getting it all wrong guys.why should we pay for the fixes. it's not up to us to fix the problem, it's up to ford to get off there bums and get it wright.nt turboif I can help in anyway let me know.we still need all those other guys who have had problems to get involved.I think ford are sitting back with a big grin on there faces because no one will stand up to them, people would rather just go off and fix the problem them selfsthink about it guys if the motor or transmission packs it in from no fault of yours, do you go out and pay money out of your own pocket to get it fixed or do you take it to the dealer to get it fixed under warranty.my self, I will take it back again and again till it gets fixed wright.my car is back to the dealer on wednesday to get some matters fixed and yes the perminant fix to the brakes did not work after 5000km. I got sick of the joke and just went and bought DBA golds and FORODO pads, it cost $1000 for the parts and the dealer fitted them gratas. My logic, one less thing to worry about and consistant powerful straightline stopping with NO TRAMLINING. I know this is how the factory should make them in the first place, but they argue that if you drive at the speed limit then the brakes will perform fine. I argued that they shouldn't put jet propelled engines under the bloody bonnet then, did no good at all so I took the easy way out because I relised that the fix was short for hit and miss botch up. The brakes are the only issue I've had with them where they were defiant. Still I'm always in for a good stoush, count me in

Sash. You can have my old crossed drilled and slotted rotors for $120,You will be required to get them machined to match your hub to get rid of the runout..They are 13000km old.I really do think your just prolonging a slow and painfull process staying with the same size little excuse for brakes.
