Now with 23,000k's on the clock, I thought my T was getting the shudder back. But it seems that there's no shudder now, it has been 7,000 k's since my one machine job, touch wood. My local dealer is getting the new lathe, I may get them done after it arrives so as to maybe prevent it returning, depending on what you guys think of the "FIX" by that time.

Next time you have a few hours spare :ermm: get the car booked in for PIL 61/03 - this is the service "program" to re-torque the wheel nuts to 135Nm...

It's a free "update" and who knows, might help to prevent the shudder...

They won't do the shim until you get the shudder, but I noticed "PIL 61/03" on the service record a few weeks ago (3000km "service"), and asked, sure enough, the dealerships have been told to re-torque the wheel nuts to the new factory spec's.

Of course what happens next time I get a puncture, and fit the spare... Maybe I'll call Ford Roadside Assistance, and ask them to torque the spare to 135Nm - I can imagine the response :finger:

P.S. The guys in the service department are really getting to hate this site - keep up the good work !

Hey all, new here.

I started to get brake shudder from about 8000 kms. I have 15,000 kms now. The disks were machined at around 11,000 km's and the problem doesn't seem to have re-occured - yet!

I have just had the APS Phase 2 kit installed 4 days ago. The scary acceleration will no doubt make me rely on my brakes much more, so I'll see if the shudder comes back.

One thing that does sh*t me, and I'll be interested if any of you are experiencing the same (coz Ford reckon you all are), is a faint scratching sound which seems to be coming from the brakes on the ride side of the car. It's particularly noticable when driving past a wall or fence. It's driving me crazy and the Ford service people reckon there's nothing they can do - apparently most XR6T's experience this after around 5000 kms.

Keen to hear if this is true or bullsh*t.

Keep up the great posts guys!!

p.s This week's most satisfying moment? Giving in to the temptation when a black VY SS Ute drove up along side me on the highway....planting the foot down, leaving him about 30 metres behind in no time. He stopped at the same service station shortly after as said he had to admit he hasn't been beaten that convincingly, by a car that sounded so horny, in a long time. hehe...gotta luv it!

Welcome phase II,

this noise is what is known as handbrake drag. I thought mine had been fixed, alas the McDonalds drive thru tells me different, bloody walls.

Ah well 6,500 k's to 30k service, have it looked at again.

Temporary solution upturn stereo or upturn induction noise. Have a good one, see you around the site.

Phase II,

I also had this. Ford backed off the handbrake adjustment slightly and fixed it. The only problem now is that as the handbrake cable has stretched over time and use it only just holds.

It's in the dealer today for a diff leak and power steering leak so I told them to adjust the handbrake.

Time will tell as to wether or not it was successfull.

hynodoc, it's given me 268 kw at the rear wheels - so far.

I have to tell you, the feeling you get when you open the baby up is nothing short of awesome....the acceleration gives you an instant rush of adreneline.

Oh good I thought I was the only one that was experiencing this annoying scraping sound coming from the rear when driving beside another car or wall. I thought it might have been the rear rotors slightly warped.

This noise totally annoyed me when I had a VT - Expensive Daewoo were never able to rectify it. Now I'll see how Ford go about it as the T has also intermittently developed the dreaded rear scraping sound. It's no comfort either that I've heard the same thing on countless other Falcons and Commodores (including HSV's). Is this noise a no cost option or something?
