So where to from here ? If we continue to have the problems with the brakes, even when the front discs have been machined, is Ford responsible for fitting the premium discs to the car if they can't find a fix with the "standard" discs ?

Or are we stuck with the shudder until we go and tell them to upgrade and are stuck with the outlay ?

In my mind if it is a known factory problem than they would have to be some what responsible for fixing the problem, mainly from a safety issue.

Hope this makes sense.

As for whom might be at fault, yuo can come to your own conclusions. But remember one thing, if the premium brake package did not exist, would anyone be expecting Ford to fit "Brembo's"? I just could'nt wait for a "fix" not after 4 months and no real solution, let alone trying to find the real cause of the problem. So I went for premiums as everyone I know who had them did not have a problem. (Ask your Dealer; off the record and you might get some interesting info!) And guess what? There has been NO shudder with premiums & I've tried real hard to find some!

AS for the HUB FLANGE, you'll find there wont be a problem there; apart from the usual production hiccups that occur. My Hub falnges were measured three times, with both the "old fashioned" dial gauges & digital gauges sent up from Ford. Besides, if the hub was out of spec/run-out you would have noticed the problem from the very first drive!!

Mind you, my mate who bought a new M3 BMW wasn't very happy when he had his front discs replaced under warranty, with under 3000km due to brake shudder!!!. At least we haven't spent over 200G's. Every manufacturer is having brake shudder dramas. The problem with the Ba is it is so unpredictable & there doesn't seem to be direct cause of the problem. By the way , mines a manual and does mostly peak hour driving in Sydney!

In on Monday for:

1. The "permanant" brake fix.

2. Attempt to identify the cause of the intermitant engine stalling.

3. Attempt to fix the rubbing parking brake.

Will report on the success or lack thereoff.

G'day Mack, My T is currently not actually stalling, but is at times almost stalling, it catches it and then it is right again for a while. This only occurs when idling and mainly when the air is on., however it does occur when air is not on too. The normal driving performance is unchanged (ask Scotty how well she goes...). It has started since the dealer had to remove the rocker cover etc to remove the broken oil cap. Does your do it at any time in particular I.e when air is on/off??

The dealer has looked at it twice now and says that it has no error codes, but there was a problem with the purge solenoid, which they replaced. I took it to a well known performance workshop in Brisvegas yesterday and they put their scanner on it and it revealed no codes either. Don't you hate these bloody intermittent problems!!?? :smilielol:

I tink it's time that every one on this forum got to gether maybe with the help of this forum and it's sponsers and let ford australia know just how upset we are over there incompitance in this brake issue.

I for one am up to my fourth fix and the brakes are still sh_t and I can not afford to change the brakes like other members had to do because of the quality of the standard brakes that are on these vehicles.

the brakes are bad enough on a standard falcon, but why are the using them on vehicles that put out 240kw.

if ford don't listen to us then I think we should be going to the press and if they still don't listen then maybe a class action in the courts.

what do you guys think.

as you can tell I'm feedup with all of fords inaction.

axw01,

Your symptoms sound pretty much like mine.

Air-con does not seem to effect. Happens mostly in stop/start situations, at the end of the stop or on little downhill stops such as at the end of a steep drive etc. I have had a stall just while sitting at lights.

Fault readouts have never shown up.

The attempt to fix both the stalling and the brake (or something) rubbing have both failed again.

The brakes have had the latest fix and all feels OK at the moment.

I've since had a power upgrade which is keeping me smiling for the moment but I know the other sh!t is going to get on my goat again soon.

Maybe I'll try another dealer.

Howdy!

I just arived back from the U.S (SEMA motor show) and I see we have another 4 pages of comments. Obviously we still have a problem.

Performance brake companies are making a killing in the U.S because of this same problem with shudder on other vehicles. Unfortunately as we are finding out here, there isn't an easy fix. It isn't just one component causing the problem but an assembly which also reacts differently in different driving conditions.

In my opinion I think we will find a number of different fixes depending on the driving application. Some will find peace in a simple rotor/pad change, others with bigger brakes and calipers, and even some changes in suspension geometry, wheels, tyres ECT.

I hope there is a positive solution before we make it to 50 pages....
