just booked mine in for the fix.

now 20000km and up for the fouth fix.

dealer says they have the perminant fix and have had no come backs yet.

when I mentioned new calipars, it was never heard of that and then change the subject.

Got the Ford 'fix'. 2 days now and so far so good. My only complaint so far is that now I have a longer pedal as, when you apply the brake, you effectively need to take up the gap that now exists between the pads and the rotors. Definitely a dodgy fix, but one I guess I'll have to get used to. I mentioned the longer pedal etc to the dealer and he said that he received that 'feedback' (otherwise known as complaint) from several who have had it done.

I too look forward with great interest to seeing these new calipers.

I don't know about you guys, but it is not ideal, although it is nice, that every service advisor on the front desk at the dealer says hello to you by name when you come in (some even remember my rego!!).

Which Ford fix did you get mate?.The pad springs and another machine or what Rob commented on the other day about getting everything torqued to align everything.

Wonder if they have bought out a anti-rattle clip to keep the pads faraway from the disc to stop the disc overheating?.This may explain the lower than normal pedal take up pont on braking maybe.I dont think I would be happy getting or trying this mod.I will watch in interest your comments and thoughts over the next couple of days or weeks.

I wonder in the depths of Ford engineering they no what the problem actually is but have been instructed to find a cheap fix to avoid huge warranty claims.The plot is thickening.

12,000kms - no shudder

13,500kms - started to get suspicious...is that shudder I was starting to feel?

14,500kms - no doubt about it....I got shudder! And it's progressively becoming more apparent at abraking from all speeds!

Just the look of the the caliper will confirm a upgrade mate.Hope your got a digital camera to post pics.

...Yes, I do have a digital camera. As soon as the dealer says he has got it I will see if I can get a wheel off & take a photo

G'day ASNU, I got what they called shims and the new lathe for on-car machining. I'd rather not mention the dealer name as they themselves have been pretty good and I know that they check out this site from time to time... something to be said about not wanting to sh*t in one's nest...

IMO all this fix does is keep the pads further away from the rotor to stop it from overheating... very dodgy. I agree with you, the plot is definitely thickening

The other difference I notice since 'the fix' is that the brakes don't have the bite that they used to have . I reckon this is because they are a whole lot cooler at application due to being so far away from the rotors and as a result, aren't up to temp. They feel like they do when the brakes are cold. Talk about robbing Peter to pay Paul. After a couple of applications, they are pretty much right, just that initial one is a problem. I'm still seriously considering the DBA rotors and bendix pads, but will wait to see if anything else eventuates about new calipers.

Hmmm, That's it, the next time the shuddering occurs.....Well it will be time for "rotor pair #3"!!! I'll just have to fork out for some slotted DBA's and be done with it I think. If I wait around for Ford. Hell the next model will be out...Not at all happy with this 'co called' remedy.

well guys.. I was thinking how lucky I am... 20 000 kliks and no shudder... then a trip from Brissie to noosa to bribie to noosa and home, and guess what??? yep that's right ..... Houston, we have a shudder.

just a question guys.. with the poll results, does that purely reflect the fact that most cars are autos city driven or is there actually a higher ratio of shudder happening to those cars driven in that manner.

then again, it could be the rums talking!!!
