Am waiting for it to get worse.Spoke to my service dept, they said Ford are working on a fix, but in the meantime they will only skim the discs, them when they get down to minimum thickness they replace them, send the old ones back to Ford for measuring.I have just done 13000km with standard brakes and no problems. I drive mainly in the Melbourne suburbs and I drive hard, I'm averaging 17.5 L/100km, and I use the brakes hard too. I have the auto.Gee geea 17.5 lts/100k, man I thought I drove hard and I'm getting 16.25 lts/100 km. :D B)

This was a known common problem and Expensive Daewoo just said they would machine the disc and put different pads on. Brakes still shuddered after having had this done a few times. A few weeks ago I spoke to a DBA guy about the problem and he said that DBA traced the problem not to the disc or the pads or calipers but the disc HUB. As per what he said, a batch of hubs didn't run as true as they should have and then eventually cause brake shudder after heavy braking. Each hub is $300 trade which would explain why they would not want to replace them under warranty. However this does not explain why the premium brakes in the BA remain good. This is the new shims fix...bla bla bla. They will be booking my car in next week. I have also asked for new discs since they have been machined twice and my car hasn't done 8K yet. I had them machined 1.5 weeks ago with the new lathe. We will see what comes of it

I do a little track driving and therefore optioning premium stoppers was a no brainer for me, and I tell you what, they are good. You have to go really hard to get any fade at all, so I reckon they are worth the spend.

Currently have done 8200 kms and it is getting worse with light braking from 80km/h. For what it's worth, I consider my use of the brakes as fairly light - often downshift to knock off a lot of speed before applying them. I'll be taking mine back at 9000 for an oil change/ tyre rotation/ solenoid replacement so I'm hoping they will have some resemblance of an idea as to what to do for the shudder on a permanent basis . The blank look does little for the confidence.

Now has 26,000 and problem hasn't reoccurred. 80% of driving is 100km/h zoned rural roads

Trumpy What's happening? Lifetime Members 1,605 Member For: 22y 14d Gender: Male Location: Steel City, NSW Posted 18/09/03 06:37 AM Share Posted 18/09/03 06:37 AM Well, I have been in 13FORD 's ear this afternoon, and apparently they are sending out the "parts" to the dealers first thing next week. The dealers should already have the new machining tools. The person on the phone also said that they were going to be calling all those that had registered their complaints with 13FORD tomorrow or early next week.So with any luck I can get my brakes fixed again (5th time in 10000km) early next week and get down to the real job of testing how good this "permanent fix" really is....
