Each time the disc is machined, it becomes thinner hence the sooner onset of warping again.A better method of machining the disc? I don't think so. The primary cause that leads to the disc warping in the first place, will still be there.Pads and/or calipers? Again, logic says that though the heat generated by the pads on the discs to cause the braking effect will always be there. (Or, we ain't gunna stop are we?). So, it follows that the fault lies in the ability of the disc to absorb and dissipate this normal heat generation without distorting.Which it aint....................end of story.Simple really, either wait for the definative fix from Ford or go out and spend some oxfords on DBA etc.Me? I'm gunna wait just a little bit longer, then if nothing, sit down with the dealer and make him an offer he can't refuse...............Mack....... The actual fix it the new shims not the way the machine the disks. Although this is said to "help" with the problem. Time will tell. I have mine booked in for its 15000km service in 2 weeks. They should have the shims by then so we will see.. I hope it fixes it.

I'm not down on service managers. Too often they are the Meat in the Sanger and can only do and say within the limits of the dealership and the manufacturers warranty procedures.Mack.... Posted 27/08/03 11:49 PM Share Posted 27/08/03 11:49 PM we got it all wrong guys.dba is an excellent product and I dare say they fix the problem.but why should we spend any more of that folding stuff on a $50 000 car when it should have been done rite in the first place.I for one am not going to spend any more on this problem until ford get off there arse and fix the problem correctly. So I had no choice in the end but to spend my own cash and fix the problem, well it's been ok for 2500k's.

Posted 28/08/03 05:06 AM Share Posted 28/08/03 05:06 AM does anyone know if the big wiggs from ford look at this site.it's a pitty if they don't, cause they might learn something about how all of us fell about these loviley cars.don't get me wrong I love every thing about my xr6t (except the bl---y brakes), but I think it's time that the big wiggs at ford realised that it's time to stop there penny pinching quick fixes and fix the problem correctly once and for all.can someone please tell me when it's time to get down off my soap box.
