This reduces the onset of the shudder but you still can get shudder with the premium brakes. brake shudder has nothing to do, in the case of the falcon, of the brakes being to small! They are bigger than anything we have had standard before and more than account for the extra weight. Biggest problem is the pad material and disc material! Normal driving and the pad is skimming the discs and building deposits on the disc causing the shudder in easy driven cars because the pads are poor material! Premiums have better pads!hate to dissapoint you but EB didn't have bigger brakes than EF. same if I remember right!

Guest MKeily Guests Posted 29/07/03 10:19 AM Share Posted 29/07/03 10:19 AM I have brake shudder problem and it's getting worse.Cold there is no problem but as I drive home- 30 min drive they get worse.I have been following this with interest as I am about to take the car back to the dealer to request a fix but I'm not sure what I should ask them to do except fix it!I was thinking of getting some DBA discs and asking the dealer to fit them for me, but the suggesstion seems to be that it won't make a difference. Can any of you guys in the dealers suggest something please.it is important that Ford fix this because word is getting around. I was at the ford day at PW ford Sydney on Sunday and spoke to two owners. One was particularly upset, the other watching and waiting. Ford needs to fix this. Unless your talking EB GT then they had huge brakes! All versions of brakes up till current have had shudder to a degree just BA is far worse! Will be fixed soon. Been told the fix coming out very Soon. and its nothing to do with springs on the pads like has just been spoken about or the hubs!

Guest OXR-747 Guests Posted 29/07/03 11:55 PM Share Posted 29/07/03 11:55 PM Went in for my 15,000 service on Monday, $185, not too bad was quoted $240. I also had brake shudder for the 3rd time so they replaced the front rotors under warranty.

The service department where I go must be full of blind di..heads not to pick this up, all they seem to know now is machine machine machine.Anyway thanks DBA a big improvement already, next challenge is to see how long they last. I asked him if Ford would be notifying all the affected customers. He said he didn't know and asked for my details stating they will be in touch when the fix is ready. He couldn't tell me what the fix was. I'll let you know when I know. No way are they going to re-machine my Bl^*dy discs again.Another waiting game! Guest MKeily Guests Posted 30/07/03 09:47 AM Share Posted 30/07/03 09:47 AM I spoke to the dealer this morning who advised me that Ford had 8 engineers working on this problem.I am booked in next Tuesday to have the discs machined and the drivers side window fixed. (It clunks when raised). The dealer confirmed that they had had cars in up to three times having discs machined.I wait in expectation.
