BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

had the discs skimed again today so we will see how long this lasts.

the dealer told me ford will cover the warranty on the brakes to 100000kms.

I'm keeping a hard copy of all the work they are doing to the brakes just in case.

must admit sofar the brakes feal the best so far.

My car went in again today to have disks machined and it's still there, the dealer told me the guy who came out to machine them didn't want to do them again so they had to speak to Ford in Melbourne, not sure of the outcome yet, my car was also in to have windscreen replaced maybe that was the real reason for the delay.

OK the guy who came out didn't want to re-machine the disks and left apparently the service manager called him and convinced him to come back the following day to machine them. He must of been forced to do them or he wasn't getting and more work from the dealersship. This issue is really becoming a worry. The so called expert not wanting to machine them and Ford telling him to do them anyway is a joke.

I spent the last long while doing a search and reading every thread on brake shudder.

I'm hoping to place an order for a T next week, and it's the toss up of forking out the extra $3K or not for the premium stoppers...

Not an easy decision - fork out the money now and hope to avoid the problems but pay more in servicing the brakes, go with the standards and jump on Ford if there is a problem, or go with the standards and fork out a bit more for an after market solution...

At this stage I'm all for tossing a bloody coin!

I believe the factory premium brakes are overpriced for what you get.

Check around aftermarket specialists as I think you can get the same thing for less dough.

I have the standard - havnt had the problem yet (5000K).

I dotn think the $3000 is worth it - plus there are people complaining about squeeling under light breaking with the premium breaks.

Unless you need fade resiliance (track, lots of mountain driving....) same your money - Ford must have a solution soon.

This is the way I'm leaning. Hey, I can use the $3K to buy a tank of PULP in 5 years time ;-)

Seriously, I agree, Ford must have a solution soonish.

Been a while since there was an 'official' update on this from Ford. Has anyone had an update from their dealer???

why dont you do a comparision of your discs against the ford ones,

for example standard ford discs and pads against your longlife solids, then slotted and then the gold or crossdrilled.

Then change the pads to aftermarket ones and measure stopping distances to see whether you product performs better in stopping. As for the disc shudder I don't know how to test for that.

At least if we have figures on how much better your product is, we can make our own choice.

PS what do you think of the new kevlar pads eg EBC Steet and greenstuff :idea:
