Has anyone tried the Bendix Ultima pads in a T.

That was al I ever used in my 'Dore and they were fantastic, gave you a firm pedal and a real solid stopping feel..

Just had the T back to ford for another brake shudder fix.

last time it went in was 5000 kms ago.

and its already been machined 3 times .. and what did they do?

machine it again!!!!!!!!!

I asked them why they are settling for a quick fix again, and I was told that they sit at 27mm and they dont change them until 26mm..

also ..

(this bit pissed me off)

they told me that my brakes need replacing and recommended some brand which reduces brake shudder...

bull... the cause of the brake shudder isnt the pads, its the disks!!!

so, putting softer brake pads on, hopefully they wont warp the pads as quickly and when it does, ...warranty is out!!!!!!!!

grrr

I'm going to get hard disk pads, and get these disk rotors changed!!!!

guys.. I need recommendations of brake pads. :)

he told me that after market pads wont void the warranty.

I bed next time, they will say that my hard pads warped the disks and caused brake shudder

lol

ford built tough

Joining in from New Zealand, Just had the same shudder second time around.

1st at 5000km machined & shims fitted

Now at 18000km same bloody problem,

The Ford dealership has said they machined them again. But main fix its to fit ultima pads to it at my cost.

They say the pads they supplied me with the car are not covered by warrenty?

Apparently they fit the ultima's from new now, So why do I have to pay to fix there problem that they created. Seems wrong.

Cheers for the rant :gooff:

Holy :msm: this is HUGE thread. I have just spent the last 4 days reading through the whole bloody lot!!! :spoton:

I have a big suggestion for the moderators or someone. Can we have a section somehow that stays at the start or the end that summerises the useful info we now have in this thread. I kept seeing the same questions and answers over and over. No-one (except perhaps me) is obsessive enough to read the whole lot. This thread is way out of control...........

I would be quite willing to attempt the summery. (I even made notes as I read the thing) but there may be someone more eloquent out there. Even if DBAsteves 'stick my neck out' post was used it would be a great start.

One recurring question that I have not really seen an answer to is about the different grades of QFM pads. I would like to know more about the 'premium' and 'comp' grades but it seems that there is very little experience out there, at least in this forum, with the other grades. I also find it rather frustrating that QFM have no website with info on their product and even the Vic distributors website gives no detail of the grades they sell. Not good enough in this info age!

:msm:

I recon I will be getting QFM pads at the next service but what grade........?

I've got an auto, and do probably 70/30 freeway / city driving, and have 29K on the clock now. I've had it for about the last 12-1500K's, and I'm in for a service in the next week, so will have it fixed then. Is it only the standard brake packages it happens to?. I was driving a stock Falcon rental the other day, and it required much higher pedal pressure. I wondered if the XR's have softer pads adding to the problem. In my case it is a bigger issue slowing down from highway speeds without a lot of pedal pressure, push harder and the shudder becomes less noticeable.

I like the DBA option, or bigger after market discs and calipers.

............. push harder and the shudder becomes less noticeable.

That's correct - ultimate braking performance isnt compromised but trying to scub off some speed gently at high speed on a freeway on a slight bend can be rather disconcerting

Didn,t have any brake shudder till last week.I took the T for a really hard drive down a windy road all 1st,2nd and 3rd gear and not over 160 kph.Over a distance of only 4-5 kms the brakes went from OK to nothing.I pulled up (just)at an intersection and dissappeared in a cloud of burning brake smoke.Drove it slowly 2-3 k's without touching the brake pedal to cool them down but too late, the next drive revealed warped discs. So after only 15-20 hard stops every 100 to 300 metres that's the end of them.A track day would be out of the question with standard brakes methinks.DBA,s coming up.

Mr X,

Your Signature states that you have a 10/03 build car. I thought the brake shudder problem was fixed from 10/03. Interesting.

I was going to go to ford and demand the new braking system be put on my car but if it solves nothing.....I won't bother. QFM pads here I come.

Cheers,
