Heard that the series 2 is coming out standard with the premuim brakes (Brembo's I think!) to solve problem. ---- Spewing----

That sounds like old wife's tale to me & welcome to the forums

If Ford area ware of the brake shudder problems, why have they not recalled all vehicles and had the problem fixed? It would be alot cheaper for them to do that than face a class action by angry owners.

Lucky my XR6T came with premium brakes.......

No luck involved there mate ,you paid for your lucky brakes

I'll be specifically asking what they did this afternoon when I get my beast back....

"The discs weren't that bad as some that we've seen, so we just machined them for you..." :cussing:

Have to see how long it takes before the next shuddering begins..... :gooff:

Well,

I've had my T for about 6 weeks, got it with 8000km on it with no hint of brake shudder.

Have put 5000km on it and have now noticed the shudder, only at speeds over 80kph - particularly when driving "spirited" style....

Question - these shims people are talking about as part of the fix, what are they, where do they go, what do they do?

Thanks,

Michael......

The shims everyone is talking about are the anti-rattle shims that fit around the outer edges of the pad. The shims on the first lot of BA's were too thick and weren't allowing the pads enough clearence to pull back off the rotor when you take your foot off the pedal.

Drove an 03 RX Subaru today, one lady owner (age classified) 2.5ltr N/A Auto, 19,000 k's racked up over 14 months. Guess what? BRAKE SHUDDERS like a mother.

On another note "AXW-01" one of our more travelled owners has just had QFM's fitted along with another disc machine at his, wait for it 60,000 K service. Our wishes go out to Al for a speedy removal of Shudder from his life.

I've taken the advice of the forum and fitted the QFM pads on freshly machined standard rotors.... I'll use this setup for a little while, and then fit a bigger set of slotted rotors and calipers.

For those in SA wondering where to source QFM pads....

North East Nissan is the SA agent.... all pads are $59 a pair.
