BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

QFM must be the brand of pad, my stocko ones don't cause me any drama, but I have updated brakes so who knows!?

I had Ford replace the pads due to wear. I do think $270 is quite high though.

machined at 7,500km & again today. Had 2 water pumps, second one is of different design. Two O'ring leaks aswell.

I'm also taking my car back (to Dominelli Ford this time, closer to home) because of a squeal from the fan belts on cold starts. Lasts about 15 minutes then dies off. Thomson Ford shaved a bit of excess lag off the fan belt, but the squeal came back...

...I just hope Dominelli's Service is as good as their knowledge! If it is then I will be a very happy customer!!

Well, I believe I should report back on my experience with Dominelli. They were great! Said the car would be ready by midday (0730 drop-off) and it was ready at 11, they replaced both idler wheels and the fan belt as well.

They even washed the car.

Only two complaints:

1/ The car had done 3km, but I don't mind that as it was probably necessary to bed the belt in (or something?!) but it was returned to me with the fog lights on. I didn't notice until the next morning. I definately had them off because I was pulled up by a motorbike cop who let me off with a warning for driving with them on (and possibly speeding... ). Not happy about that - if I got booked after leaving Dominelli I woulda been rather upset!

2/ The car was washed in their automagic car wash (the 'slapper' bristle style) - I don't like stickers on my car (and told the original dealer this when I ordered it), but I left the Wynns Paint Protection one on there for a reason!!

Apart from that, all is well. The brakes aren't shuddering again (they still squeal though).

Does anybody know if this problem with the brakes extend to the utes. Also I have had to take mine back twice to strap ford.

1. Car went into limp mode - Computer error code read turbo overpressure

2. Same again car in limp mode - This time error code pointed to the throttle body

Strapp ford were great (except for the bloody ford focus I had to drive, bloody controls on the wrong F%$#ing side).

Has anybody else had these problems

In regards to the brakes, yes the utes have the same problem as they use the same brakes.

Just about at 13000 now and still no brake shudder on the beast. Interestingly enough, I drove a month old XR8 yesterday and it's brakes were terrible. It was like being in my old XF after I had gotten the XR8. The pedal feel was really bad and you had to push really hard to get it to stop. I didn't have much confidence in them I can tell you.

Today I'm driving a 12 month old XT with 50,000k's on the clock. Shudders like a mother, when I drop it off I'll tell BBF that they should buy it some QFM's. Black Panther is having a new Bonnet release cable fitted as it got broken on the week-end by a mate who was helping me clean her. Stall speed is just under 2000rpm's, doesn't do much of a skid

Not exactly on the shudder issue but.

At my 45,000 service, I mentioned that the handbrake did not function. (I knew that previous dealer had backed off the adjustment in an effort to prevent the scraping noise)

Guess what.

You guessed it Claude, handbrake now works again but the obligitory noise is now more prominent than ever. No slow boulevarde cruising without the "Shame" paperbag over my head again.

I have the same problem with the hand brake squeal. And yeah, it's really embarassing. But it's inherent on the Commodores as well. Actually, a lot of cars do it. But the Falcon seems to be particularly bad.
