If its the plate I think you are talking about - its a dust cover. I've left my plates off so I can see the brake rotors - just an aesthetic preference.

It stops brake dust going all over your rims make abit of difference I think, I was going to add sometimes those rotors are jammed on hard from either corrosion or brake dust build up and require a lot of force to remove I always found wd40 on the studs and centre hub leave for 15-30 redo a couple of times slam with a hammer lol if it doesn't come off swear more then hit harder

To all the shudderers lol, when I had my BA I had pretty severe shuddering and I changed nearly every braking component, rotors, pads, fluids flushed and replaced, abs module etc etc. A mechanic mate of mine had a few customers experiencing the same problem and all he did which seemed to fix the problem was to back off the rod between the booster and the master cylinder a few turns. Might be worth a try as it costs you nothing and might save you a few pennys for your next mods , goodluck.

Random Brake/Steering Wheel shudder in BA -BF at freeway speeds while not braking is usually caused by an over adjusted front pushrod in the brake booster.

If you have already spent money on pads and rotors believing the cause to be DTV or tried wheel balancing & tyres ect.... but have not solved the problem.

Have the booster checked. I have seen it happen on over halve a dozen vehicles in the last year or so.

hi bought a ba mk2 back in jan of this year. had 120k on the clock minimal paint/body damage and immaculate inside, cost 14k but this was the cheapest and best at the time and did get 1k off. my question is about brakes, I read in this forum a few weeks ago about slotted DBA's and Bendix brakes and was wondering if someone out there can confirm what I need to do to fix the brake shudder. any help greatly appreciated, apart from the brakes the XRT is driving really well. I'm getting 450km to the tank and apart from servicing when I first got her and then every 10k since she is veryspecial

Change your front suspension bushes. at 120k they will need doing. Then get your rotors machined (if they have enough meat left) and need pads.

hi bought a ba mk2 xr6 turbo 4 months ago had 120k on clock immaculate inside and minimal paint chips outside. have heard and experienced brake shudder and I have read about slotted DBA's and Bendix brake pads, can anyone help me with regards to ways of getting rid of the brake shudder

Put new rotors and pads front and rear DBA t2's are cheap, if strapped just do the front first usual culprit I wouldnt bother machining the discs.

Bushes probably need replacing as above aswell
