After 10,000km my ute started to develop a very bad shudder. Toke the car back had shim kit fitted and had the disks skimmed.

Now at 16,500km shudder is their again but not as bad as befor.

It'll probably only get worse. My shudder hasn't come back at all.

I'm also taking my car back (to Dominelli Ford this time, closer to home) because of a squeal from the fan belts on cold starts. Lasts about 15 minutes then dies off. Thomson Ford shaved a bit of excess lag off the fan belt, but the squeal came back.

So I called Dominelli and spoke to a guy in Service there. He asked me if Thomson had changed the idler wheel at the same time and I told him "No, there was just R & R on the belt on the Service Report". The bloke on the phone almost died of shock and said it definitely should have been replaced. A stark contrast to the amount that Thomson seem to care about a 'fix' lasting longer than the trip back home. :makedeal:

I just hope Dominelli's Service is as good as their knowledge! If it is then I will be a very happy customer!!

So what? are Ford Australia going to do about our brake problems??

All of you are saying the same things ie., brakes shuddering, getting rotors skimmed 1 or two times! etc, etc.,

But seriously, shouldn't all of our XRT's have premium brakes as standard?

I would have paid the extra price had I known when I purchased My XTR auto.

I don't think they're oblidged to do anything.

However, I knew about the brake shudder issue before purchasing my 6. Just did my research. Had I purchased a T, I think I would have gone the Premium Brake Package anyway.

I don't think Ford would go out and make Premium Brakes standard on the T because of the brake shudder issue with the standard brakes - for a start, the brake shudder issue probably wouldn't have been known pre-production and secondly, why would the Premium brakes be made standard on the T only (as a resolution to the shudder issue) when the shuddering is evident on most BA Falcons?

I've spent a lot of time in cabs and therefore a lot of BA XTs and Futuras and pretty much all of them have told me they have had their discs machined.

The Premium Brakes are hardly a necessity for your "average" T driver (not everyone out there is an enthusiast!).

There is absolutley no doubt that FoMoCo new about brake shudder before the BA was released (Harasn can confirm). They drove many hundreds of 000's of km. Its a problem that dates back to the AU.

that's what is so frustrating about issues such as this and driveline shunt, they were knwon before release but not resolved. :nono:

Mitsi, Toymota, Holden, Ford & others all sell cars on a daily basis that stand a large chance to obtain brake shudder. It's a problem stemming from the inability to use asbestos in pads. Until a financially viable alternative is sourced this will continue.

However for a mere $50, BA drivers can avoid this shuddering by fitting QFM pads!!
