Brake shudder is common especially with autos driven in city traffic. Ford dont have a good fix even today. Machining the discs 3 times before replacing them is common. Brake rotor warranty has been extended to 100000km. New cars built since around Oct last year have the 'fix' which involves a different caliper which apparently degrades both the feel and performance of the brakes. Many have tried aftermarket pads and rotors with variable success.

The short version is in the 21st century Ford are too tight to supply a decent braking system. Its a farken joke :o

Very brief and to the point, but the same conclusion. The standard brakes are mostly crap and remain so.

To date nobody's (including myself) encountered shudder with QFM pads on the standard rotors. So invest $50 or there abouts & obtain a solution to 41 pages of whinging!!!

Well, after 12000 careful kilometres.... I too have fallen for the inevitable brake shudder problem..... And I thought it was only affecting the young hoons who drive recklessly! :lol:

KTFORD, What are these QFM pads you mention.

I haven't heard about these. (Must admit to NOT having read this topic for quite a few months)

To add to the list, I have an auto driven mainly in the city.

Went country cruising thru the hills yesterday, and noticed for the first time, coming back down the Southern Expressway, that after the brakes were warmed by a few gentle prods slowing for the downhill exit, the shudder presented itself.

So is the current cheapest fix to have the discs machined and fitted with QFM? pads ?

or is the DBA slotted rotors the only real fix?

By the way guys (and gals) What pads are best with the DBA rotors?

I think I'll piggyback on your post.

10,000 Km and the dreaded shudder is there, but relatively mild and only apparent at the bottom of the SE freeway, which I travel several times per week.

If Scotty's right about the QFM pads, I want to get some fitted, regardless of who pays for them.

Hope they're available in SA.
