I have read what other people have said but I have already had the big brakes done and still I have the problem would love and really apreciate some feed back of any type.

I have big brakes fitted to my car, and they have done over 5000klms now, and I have absolutely no brake shudder. I dont have Herrod's gear though, I have AP Racing. Simply fantastic brakes.

As we drove downhill through the Snowies this weekend (NSW Cruise), a number of us confirmed that we had no instances of brake shudder...and we were using "standards"

:bigdrool: Well, my ute has recently developed signs of brake shudder. It's in for the 15000km service today aswell as getting the rotors machined. If it happens again I'll have to think about replacing the rotors to some form of aftermarket product.

Brake shudders all gone now, the rotors have been machined and all is well again. But I do have that grinding feeling when turning one way. I'm told that will go soon.

Actually one member who had DBA's ended up getting pretty bad shudder before the day was over

I'm here Scotty, don't fret!!!

For those of you who don't know, my beast now has nearly 51000klms on it and I had the brake shudder from the start. I've had at last count 7 rotor machinings and I had my 6th set of rotors fitted at the 45 service (done at 44 and a bit). This time they fitted new pads also (which they tried to charge me $180 for, but I won that one thanks to some insistence from the friendly service advisor.... backs up what Scotty said about the guys at the dealership merely being the messenger and don't shoot them too much.... difficult to contain yourself I know). I had the shims fitted at about 35000 klms but the shudder continued to return. When the pads were removed, they were shaped somewhat like a triangle I.e 20% wear left on the front contact surface and 70% wear left on the back portion. This is obviously due to the warped rotors belting the front part of the pad on every revolution. Anyway, now done best part of 6500 klms and no sign of the shudder returning. My car used to get it back within 1000 and be totally stuffed at about 3000klms.

Lesson learned, insist that they check the pads and replace them at THEIR expense. Ford warranty initially said that pads aren't covered by warranty and that their 'engineers' said that the uneven pad wear was not caused by the warped rotors. Yeah right...

I was reluctant to report my progress as this has been the longest I have been able to enjoy my car without shudder and I didn't want to put the mockers on myself.

Good luck.

Al.
