Hi all,

A little advice ,

Bf XR6t late06 colour toxic(gt green?) . Paint around fuel filler is sh$t , you can almost see the undercoat. I Noticed problem week or so after delivery , when washing the car. The question I have is ,

1. if I get ford/dealer to respray how noticeable will it be vs will it rust etc where paint is thin? Most people can only see it when shown where to look and it dosent really bother me if it isn't going to be long term problem (rust out etc)

2. I got the car done with a clear coat(dimension4 they called it ?) would ford re apply extra coat after re spray??? or would this be wishful thinking????

:crybaby: I know it's mostly digital noise in photo but ,still looks like problem.

mine is an '02 build Acid Rush XR6T, and when I had my GT bumpers and side skirts painted, the painter pointed out how thin and blotchy the paint was on the sides of my car, making a 100% colour match nearly impossible.

I don't think you will have any rust problems, so you are probably better off just living with it, it is after all only you who see it.

Welcome to the budget performance car world :crybaby::crybaby:

take it to your dealership.

They will call Ford and have a guy come out to 'yay' or 'nay' a respray.

My car had to have this done on the front XR6 Bumper in the air damn and on the inside of the front passenger door.

Ive checked mine numerous times since and you cant tell theres been a respray..

Then again, mines white..

See, you all bag Ford for not listening to everyone complaining that the cars are getting too heavy. But, here they are, actively reducing weight on their current models.

:roflmbo: to all those doubters

...............how thin and blotchy the paint was on the sides of my car, making a 100% colour match nearly impossible.

I complained about this with the after sales questionaire/survey when I bought my old mandarin NA ute.

Ford head offices rang me and asked what I meant by "orange peel" paintwork. I told them I can understand that these are mass produced cars and their a budget orientated car but if this car was a BMW or mercedes with a high price I said I wouldnt even sign the pre-delivery inspection forms as the quality is pathetic and pure LAZY.

they offered to have my car checked out thoroughly at ford for paint flaws and I said dont worry about it cuz youll end up having to spray every single BA on the showroom floor as theyve all got orange peel! :pooh:

a true paintjob should be rubbed back with 700 after the colour coat and then a final top coat applied. the result is a mirror finish with PERFECTLY flat paint. no bloody orange peel :hohum::spit:
