hi guys

Over the last week or so ive noticed that my cars performance is down, in the mornings it sounds sick (not in a good way) on startup, like its only just managed to turn over and then you get a bit of a splutter from the exhaust like a clapped out vw bug. Also at startup I get a strong petrol smell coming into the cabin.

and in general driving the car is really sluggish to get moving and seems almost hesitant to change gear as well as a burning rubber/plastic smell coming through when the fan is on.

Any ideas???

I knew the 'morning glory' reference would bring out some one liners...

I was planning on taking the car back to ford so they could do a half arsed job on a couple of other issues (rattling belt, click in steering etc.) but thought someone might have had a similar experience and could recommend some d.I.y

- new plugs or regap?

- clean throttle body?

its done just under 20,000k

the car was just used for a quick shop run, I went out side to listen - it started normally, no overwhelming smell, no retarded splutter - but was told the car was still sluggish and slow to react when putting the foot down.
