He commented that they were pretty dirty and then proceeded to ask for an extra $160 (on top of the cost of the service) to do it then and there. I declined, as I figured I'd get it done by a specialist injector cleaning mob but I want to know if anyone else had has this done? If so would you reccomend it? the car is a BA MKI XR6 with 95,000km on the clock. Fuel economy is a lttle worse than I expect (I drive like a gradma and still only get 14.5-15.5L per 100km out of a tank) so I'm wondering if cleaning the injectors will improve things? I know that at 1800kg or so the XR6 was never going to be economical, but when I hear of turbo guys running 250+rwkw and getting 11-12L per 100km it makes me think somethings amiss. whats the deal with reaplcing the o2 sensor falconutebeast? is this something that you can do yourelf, or is it a job for a mechanic? if so, do you know what sort of cost is involved? ms700 Moderating Team 10,170 Member For: 21y 9m 5d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 27/02/07 04:31 AM Share Posted 27/02/07 04:31 AM If they are going to clean them, make sure that they completely remove them, and get them ultrasonically cleaned.The company I currently work for "pressure" customers into getting thier injectors cleaned "as part of their service", its a load of , we do a oncar injection clean, costs $95, which I, and the rest of the techs personally think does more damage than good.Oh, but it lines the service advisors and the managers pockets nicely...... you wouldnt think, but there is big money to be had in aftersales service items, such as air con disinfects, on car injection cleans etc, and the initiatives that these companies hand over are very inticing. The companies I've spoken to since say that this is as good as useless. The prices I'm getting now are $220-$300 which includes removing the injectors and cleaning each one individually then checking flow etc before replacing. Still trying to finf out whether or not this will have a great affect on my fuel economy though. This o2 sensor business has me intrigued......
