Hi all

Some would know I sold my BA XR6T in December and want to get a BF XR6T. Since they're still a bit costly for me, I got this to get me by for the year:

2001 AU2 XR8 220kw auto. I've always loved the hand built Tickford motors and think the signature plaque of the engine builder on the rocker cover is a nice touch. Its a sweet, sweet motor, makes all the right V8 sounds (glorious note over 5000revs) and goes well (not as well as the T of course). Overall - a very satisfying car.

Also, as Luke said on Sunday's cruise I kind of like the fact that its one of last iterations of a Tickford car.

I know there's a few AU haters out there, but at least I know Turbo6man won't bag me.

I've always liked them since they were released, but they're holding there value pretty well (I thought the T was a good buy compared to this on price). The XR8 was 18 to 23 when I was looking, the T was 25 - 30 around abouts. I like the steering in the au xr's, and the au xr8 was one of the best imo for combination of lightish weight, IRS and the best 5.0. Any mods planned? I thought some svo x303 heads and an svo cam would be a good upgrade (20kg's lighter and 30+rwkw), or a supercharger would be great on these things

Thanks guys - more positive comments than I expected. I paid around $14k for it and it has 124000km and drives almost like new (aside from some standard Ford Ttransmission clunks), so I couldn't resist the value.

No mods and I won't mod it. I think 220kw is about as much as Tickford could squeeze out of these without losing driveability so they're already in a high state of tune. Spending more wouldn't give much kw per $. I don't think I'll ever match the kw per $ that an edit gives a T.

Luke - Range Rovers are great mate! that's a very straight example - is it an 88 or 89 Vogue or Highline? There's a huge enthusiast base, parts are readily available (and often required), they're actually cheaper to fix than most Nissans and Toyotas and they've got a built in external oil level gauge (ie when they stop leaking you know they're empty!). Oh and unmatched off road - they were way ahead of their time.

Mark its a 93 Vouge Plus pack. Its the straightest and nicest driving rangie i've ever seen or driven. I picked it up for $6500. It's only got 217000k's. This is my second and the fourth in the family between myself and my dad. I cant wait to pick it up. Rangies are like Harleys if there not leaking oil somewhere you got a serious problem.... :gooff::blink: Its almost too nice for what i want it for. I was going to cut the gaurds and fit my flares and a body lift so i can run my 31" tires on it but it too straight and nice. It has already been converted from airspring to coils so that a big relief....
