My pride and joy was stolen from out the front of the house (Caulfield North) last night between 11pm and 1am. What a killer.

It's easy to spot as it's Mercury Silver, standard looking but probably the only one with Northern Territory plates (665202) in Melbourne.

I'm hoping it was joy riders but expect it was targeted, probably dragged onto a flatbed truck. I don't expect to see it again.

Is there a way thieves can get past the immobiliser when stealing off the street?

What is the best protection device to prevent it happening again?

Man that sucks. Sorry to hear that. The only way that I have heard of these cars being stolen is by leaving the keys around.

My AU XR was stolen - they forced the ignition, but the car stopped about 50 metres up the road and they left it.

Flatbed would be my guess too because the immobilisers work.

the best protection device for helping to stop this is a fortified shed, although not highly practical.

maybe one of the gps trackers?

Sorry to hear about the loss of your pride & joy.

I've never heard of a car stolen without the keys or the use of a flatbed.

Hope the insurance will cover the cost of an even better unit.

Thanks for the replies guys, I thought about a GPS tracker for the next one and will talk to a cop mate about it.

I still have both sets of keys!

I expect to be in the market for another T soon (maybe premium sound this time), I still have the CAPA at work so it'll no doubt get another use in the near future.
