Guest Guests Posted 11/02/09 04:27 AM Share Posted 11/02/09 04:27 AM My last service (15,000kms) was only ~$350 including engine & tranny service & I use Castrol Edge/Tranzmax Z... Nearly the cost of the whole service in lubricants there!Just pick your mechanic carefully & make sure they're not charging you for things you aren't getting Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/32766-ford-service-vs-other-service/page/5/#findComment-820912 Share on other sites

It wasnt Ford of course and I watched them do the handbrake when they rotated the tyres and it was only a minute or two at the adjustment.Dont make your mistake again and go see ultratune or whoever over your way is reccomended.I.B.How is it my mistake that Ford service are useless, overcharging tools? Speaking of tools - I noticed a faint but annoying rattle coming from the engine bay whilst driving the car that night. Popped he bonnet next morning and - you guessed it - phillips head screwdriver left in the engine bay. How this wasn't picked up on the 'road test' I'm not sure. Perhaps the stereo was up too loud or they were thrashing it - or both.... Car slower post service (engine breather pipe snapped). $560. $300 of that service. Not happy and will be asking for advice come 60k >:( Edited 17/02/09 10:21 AM by Phyber Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/32766-ford-service-vs-other-service/page/5/#findComment-825261 Share on other sites

I will say to their credit they lent me another crossover when I just dropped in unannounced the week after servicing (when I found the broken fitting) and got me going in 30 mins or so. Mine's getting put back on in a couple days when some rust gets fixed under warranty. Cost also included coolant system flush I think, woulda been $500 without it. Also offered fuel rail and injector clean for $120 - declined that one (hope the BP98 does the job) and wheel balance and align for $50 also declined.Otherwise fine dealer, service wise - but I wouldn't say I'm well versed, only bought a dealer car once!
