Guys,

I just replied under 'front end shudder', I have a 1/07 BF Mk2 with ZF 6 speed.

It looks like this is now becoming a chronic problem in the BA and now BF series.

Ich not happy, as from the history of this post I'm not looking forward to multiple stabs in the dark by Ford to sort out this chronic illness in our cars!

Well had the car running at 100km/h today after getting the new diff parts fitted on Thursday. Everything seems to check out fine. It has taken almost 18 months, two dealers, about 9-10 visits to the workshops, and fingers-crossed, I think they have fixed it at last. From memory, this was the sequence:

Darwin:

-complained that diff was clunking in reverse or when moving slowly

-no, nothing wrong, go away

-yes, probably needs a new diff. Take it in and they change the diff oil

-yes, bring it back. Take it back, no didn't do anything because they forgot to write it down to check

-take it in, told to come back because it needs a new diff bush

-quite a while later, bush in and is fitted. Problem goes away for about 2 days

Cairns:

-much later, ask if diff problem is covered by warranty. Answer is yes

-take car in, cannot find problem so I am charged. Told to come back when a new foreman will be there because he may be more competent (!!!)

-take car back, new foreman agrees there is problem (Good on the new guy!)

-diff arrives in 3 weeks and is fitted. Drive away but driveline vibe appears

-go back for tailshaft balance. Does not fix prob. New diff to be ordered

-couple of weeks later, new diff in. Problem fixed......I hope!

I still love driving the T even after all this. And my first encounter with the Cairns dealer was pretty average but the new foreman (actually he came back after going away for a while) I reckon is pretty competent and seems to take a real interest.

Good luck you other guys with your probs with diffs. Hope you don't have a time like I did! :spoton: Might only take you 12 months instead :msm:

Had a similar thing a while ago - diff whine...replaced under warranty by the stealership and funny droning and vibrations appeared. Tailshaft re-balanced vibration better but was still droning. They had replaced two tryes under warranty with sidewall cracking and had put them on backwards!

Hi dudes,

I realise that these driveline vibrations are chronic, as is diff whine and noise.. I do believe I hold the record for diff replacements, now up to my fifth Dana exchange unit. The sad thing is that my very first diff was, in hindsight, the best with minimal backlash and only a slight diff whine at about 98-100km/h. Each unit subsequently fitted has proven to have been either very backlashy and clunky or as whiny as a plane load of Poms or both. Im in the process of getting it sorted out. The Ford Dealership in Midland WA have really tried to sort the problems out and I take my hat off to them, its just the warranty structure that makes sorting these things out slow, cumbersome and very time consuming. Heres the best bit, since the second T-56 replacement, there is heaps of noise and vibration resonating thru the gear shifter. FPV do have a modified shifter and bush but are not able to tell me when I will get it????? Only been 5months now... Im at a loss as to how they could do business that way... Surely someone has to know?? I do hope to get these problems sorted as apart from those issues, I absolutely love my F6. Heavy on tyres but that comes with the territory I guess.

sorry to hear you are STILL having troubles mal..

it does make you wonder how much they could have saved cracking down on dana from the very start. I mean we have now had 4+ years of diffs getting replaced! its crazy..
