The Ford Escort started back in 1968... You might know the MK2 and MK3 because there were some made as rally cars over in Europe... Like the Escort Cosworth...

MK1 1968-1975

MK2 1975-1980

Mate,

Sounds like you got it planned!!

In NZ (and I think in OZ??) we had mk1 and mk 2 escorts which were sold here back in the day and even later on the european derived escort in the mid ninties.

some of the mk 1s and 2s are still going strong in original condition while others have had everything from rotarys, various Japanese turbo motors and V8s shoved in the front of em.

Hay boys, don't you think that the picture that yellow2000S/R put up of mk 4 in the USA looks like a TX3 turbo???

Welcome to the madhouse.

We got the Mk 1&2's here in Oz and the Mk 4 looks like our old LAsers (KH I think)

Doing a RWD conversion with the Barra Turbo would be an awsome ride.

Ford Escort - it looks like what may have been called a Probe here.

Anybody?

No, the Probe here was also called Probe there as well which was a joint venture between Ford and Mazda. The differences are that the Probe sold here was the 24v V6 which was the Probe GT over there (similar to how the Mustang sold here was/is the Cobra).

yellow2000S/R, welcome to the forum. Not to many of my kind around here. I'll bet that car goes pretty hard for an Escort. I remember seeing them in development (I worked at Ford Product Development Center in MI) and briefly on the road before making my way this direction.

Yep, the TX3 was a Ford Aust/Mazda/Ford Europe/Ford USA/Cosworth joint effort. Was sold down here as a Laser and an Escort in Europe and the US.

The turbo was also known as the Cosworth Escort in some markets as the turbo set-up was designed by Cosworth, but put together by Mazda.
