btw, 98mph trap speed isn't particularly high, so I wouldn't be getting to cheeky with the T's... Be interesting to see what it does in street trim. Certainly the car makes the most of what it's got. So when you going to trade UP to a turbo? :roflmbo:

as the auto's shift speed is limited to provide comfort and smooth shifts

Talking about that anyone have any idea when the edit software for the ZF will be available?

How I see it is Patches aint doing so well only being about a second or so quicker than Doogstar, considering Doogs doesnt have a snail hanging off his motor.... and 10's, doubt it bud... By the way this is th N/A section, not somewhere for turbo owners to come and dribble $hit !

since your such a sick c*nt, u explain to Doogstar what he needs to do to gain that extra second down the quarter, and I dont mean using nos either, I mean consistent 12.80's all day every day with street trim and pump fuel exactly like I used to. and dont 4get that 1 second is about 3 car lenghts or so over the quarter mile, but on the street it could be 5 or so car lengths. so b4 u mouth off think b4 u talk.

Yeah look that's all true, T's are a different class altogether and always will be, I am just trying to make the most of what I have. I am in the N/A section here, it's not me that's being cheeky and posting in the Turbo section and beating my chest about my car, we cop a lot of crap here for no apparent reason.

When or if I reach 12's, I think I would have reached the limit of N/A and will then think about forced induction, maybe chuck a supercharger or turbo on it? who knows? Maybe I would buy a turbo and start from scratch. I often wonder what times I would run with a turbo with my current drivetrain.

I will tell you one thing, I wouldn't be happy with 12's in a turbo, I would be looking for 10's and aiming for 9's.

I see no reason why a manual can't be as quick as an auto. The problem is that the manuals are to short geared.

I'm seriously considering getting a manual typhoon (to be different, everyone's got the zf, and because they're more fun to drive) which I'd get tuned to 400rwkw (the norm for these things). This power, a rip shifter and a 3.23 (yes, taller than stock) diff gears should be able to match the zf's record circa 2.0 60ft and 11.1 400m remembering that a 330rwkw f6 ute ran 11.7 in wa. The manuals are already able to run 1.6 60ft with the stock clutch.

I think the well argued point that auto's are quicker than manuals is more myth than physics. A good driver will be able to match an auto, as the auto's shift speed is limited to provide comfort and smooth shifts where the manual is literally limited by the driver. And besides, there are very quick manual supra's and skyline's around (which are making a pretty good case for my cash actually, anyway)

I agree that a manual driven properly should be faster, but putting taller diff gears in will give you a crap 60ft, I would be putting in 4.11 's in

Why would I need to tell Doogstar what he has to do to achieve 12's in his car. He seems to be doing a bloody good job at that himself... He is doing the best with what he has, and because he dont have a turbo, pr!cks like you think they can run their mouth about how average his times are compared to a turbo. FFS there is no comparison there they are leagues apart!!! give some credit where credit is due mate.... What you need to do is *uck off to your turbo section champ!!!

Yeah, I didn't mean you to think I directed at you, just some of the other NA guys.

That's true for na cars, but as they say, turbo's love going up hills (load on the engine, eg trucks and buses under load really perform) and given the traction issues the man T's have, I think taller gearing is totally reasonable (the six speeds ratio's are quite close together, 3.23's would space them out a bit). I think 1.6 sec 60' (that is achieved by autos, 2.50 first with 3.45 final) would be achievable in a manual (2.66 first with 3.23 final) and spacing out the gears would mean more time in each gear, letting the engine do it's thing. I thought the grey aps 5sp car with 3.23's ran an 11, and with over 1000nm, reducing the load on the engine by fitting 4.11's isn't going to achieve much but traction problems.

OK, that's fair enough. Some of the NA guys get a bit sensitive when prodded/baited but I don't let it get to me any more. We are pretty proud of our cars. If pro-streeters came into your section and hung it on you for not running 8's and 9's you would understand. Anyway, lets get on with the thread.

I can see sense in what you're saying, I was thinking NA not having researched Turbo drivelines. I can see what you're saying, it's about building boost.

Why is there always crap going on around here, racing a N/A Falcons and getting a good time is a lot of hard work, just as getting a Turbo into the 11's getting a N/A into the 13's is a monster effort.

Back to the thread guys, it's too good a subject to have closed.
