bit of a problem with it but its not a biggie. it seems that the reverse lockout has failed open (which is better than failing closed!).. allan wired it into the brake lights but im didn't pay enough attention whe he was doing it.

is there anything I should be looking for other than the wires hanging out of the gearbox? where should the wires be attached to the brake pedal?

ninka? hiddeous? please help!! haha

cheers

im lost. the wires are still tightly stuck into the solonoid on the gearbox, the negative is securely grounded on a bolt in the footwell and the positive is still connected into the white plug looking thing...?

any ideas anyone?

Here is an idea, unbolt the solenoid , connect over to a 12v power source... your battery will be easy 12v source, see if it actuates if it dont, you solenoid is rooted, if it does put it back in find a good ground for your black (scrape off some paint from the under carriage if you have 2) then hook up the other wire to your brake light switch which sits directly above your brake pedal near the steering column, when done this way the only way to engage reverse is to have your foot on the brake pedal easy as that....

refer to the diag

Kieran, have you verified that you have voltage going to the solenoid with a multimeter? Are you brake lights working? a blown fuse would cause you the same problems.

If you 100% definatly getting 12v at your solenoid i'de recommened removing and testing it straight on the battery as suggested. If it still doesnt function you may be up for a new solenoid.

You dont have a clutch that needs bleeding or a loose gear stick the may be making it hard to get reverse? :stirthepot:

cheers, but from that diagram you posted I can see that it is all wired up correctly. it defn has a good ground, so I'll pull the solonoid off and see what happens!

luke, it goes in really easy, but the clutch does need a bleed! brake lights defn work, tested them yesterday while hooking up a trailer.

the solenoid is gonna have to come out I rekon!

Kieran, i can hear my solenoid click if i tap the brake pedal with the engine off. You could get under the car and GENTLY tap the solenoid with a small hammer while somebody taps the brake pedal repeatedly, i dare say you will need to remove it tho..... :stirthepot:
