Cheers FPV 521. Very nice pix :tease:

I'm looking at a 30D with a 17-55mm. Seems a very good/popular combination, and the budget will go that far..

Any news on a 40D?? I'm heading to the US and Canada for Christmas, so the actual purchase can wait a few months.

Cheers. :)

I have heard lots of stories regarding the 40D.

One guy told me that its not far away due to Canon dropping the price on the 30D so have a look around as you could get a bargain and the 30D is worth having that's for sure :tease:

It was a toss-up for me between a Pentax and a Cannon EOS. The only reason I went for the Pentax was that it used AA batteries (which I had heaps of rechargables), and it used an SD card (which I have heaps of)

If the Cannon had these little things I would have gone that way. They're certainly hard to beat in the Bang For Your Bucks stakes.

The Canons have a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery which is good for thousands of pics and recharges in about an hour so I think you've been misled.

Pentax are also a good camera

the best advice I can give on this topic is to encourage you to spend as much time as you can on this web site.

Ive been using that site for years now and have spent around $8k on cameras over that time all with the help of there reviews and the real world customer feedback.

Cheers shock. That site is what made me decide on the 17-55. Bit exxy ( I thought rc heli was exxy!! ), but a very good lens nonetheless.. Very informative website too. :spoton:

I might keep an eye out for the 40D and time my 30D purchase around it.. I have read the 30's are not moving very well, nor the new 400D..

OK, so when I'm away, I was going to take the lappy to offload my pix. 6.5 weeks is gonna chew memory, so is a card reader onto the lappy the best bet?? ( It's what I usually do, but didn't really want to drag the lappy over there. )

I've got a 20D. Awesome camera, I just love the sport mode.

I picked it up in Singapore with a 1GB card, 400mm Tamaron lens, an extra heavy duty battery, Cannon 28-80 lens and filters, all for less than the body only price of a 350D back here at the time.

The second biggest camera show in the world, PMA starts on the 8th March in the US. Canon will be holding a press conference on the 22nd to announce their new products. Expect anywhere from 1-3 new DSLR's to be announced, some new glass and of course 1 billion new compact point and shoot cameras.

I would definitely hold off any decision for a few weeks.
